Chandigarh, Aug 18 :  The Punjab State Information Commission has disposed off 557 cases in July,2017. Disclosing this here today, the Chief Information Commissioner, Punjab SS Channy said that in July, 2017, a total of 1979 cases were under consideration before the various benches of the commission whereas in the month of June total number of cases amounted to 2132. He further said that in order to effectively implement the Right To Information Act-2005, a total of Rs. 86000 have been given to the petitioners as compensation in 22 different cases during this period and in another two cases 25000/- each had been imposed as penalty on Public information officers. The amount awarded as compensation varied from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 15000. Total 417 new cases had been registered with Commission, he informed. UNI
