Ahmedabad,
Sept 14: The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project will be a stimulus for
India's manufacturing and construction sector while creating new job
opportunities, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said in his introductory remark at
the foundation laying ceremony of the ambitious project here today. He said
this project will open up huge job opportunities for people, apart from
boosting economies all along its route. Stating that an incident in a train in
South Africa inspired Mahatma Gandhi to fight against racism and apartheid, Mr
Goyal said, "We are thankful that we got the opportunity to do this at
Sabamarti". This bullet train is a symbol of harmony between Indians and
Japanese, Mr Goyal said. Mr Goyal said that 30 years ago, the partnership with
Maruti changed in face of the Indian automobile industry. Similarly, the bullet
train would change the scenario of the transport sector, he said. “I am
confident the Japanese technology of Bullet train will give an impetus to the
ambitious 'Make in India' programme of the country,” Mr Goyal said. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe today laid the
foundation stones for the Mumbai Ahmedabad Bullet train and also a high speed
training institute at Vadodara. UNI
