Oct 17: Thousands of devotees joined the night-long prayers at the Shrine
of Hazrat Sheikh Nooruddin Wali at Charar-e-Sharief in the central Kashmir
district of Badgam despite cold weather condition. Meanwhile, Chief Minister,
Mehbooba Mufti has felicitated people on the annual urs of Hazrat Sheikh ul
Aalam being observed on Tuesday. Thousands of people, including women and
children, from different parts of the Kashmir valley and Jammu region
participated in the night-long special prayers at the shrine. The devotees had
the glimpse of Holy “ Tabarokaat” after the “ Fajr” morning prayers on Tuesday.
The district administration had made all arrangements for the devotees.
Additional security force and state police personnel had been deployed for
peaceful conduct of the annual urs. Private transporters have also decided to
press into service hundreds of vehicles to ferry devotees from different parts
of the valley to the shrine during the day today. In her message, the Chief
Minister described Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Aalam as the fountainhead of spirituality,
amity and brotherhood in the State. She said the revered saint preached eternal
values of Islam through his famed poetry, which is held in high esteem by every
citizen of the State. Ms Mufti said the dire need of present times is to go
back to the teachings of Hazrat Sheikh ul Aalam which provide a guiding force
to the humanity. The Chief Minister has directed the Divisional and district
administrations to ensure providing all adequate facilities to the devotees
visiting the shrines of Sheikh-ul-Aalam at Chrar-e-Sharief and other places
during the Urs days. UNI
