Kolkata, Nov 18: After all the international honours, now a short film on the Kanyashree Scheme has become a big hit at the 23rd Kolkata  International Film Festival (KIFF). 
It was screened on November 13. The 15-minute film – Kanyashree Samman – projects the struggle of 15  young girls from Howrah against adverse circumstances and financial  constraints. It has been directed by Mallika Roychowdhury  A brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Kanyashree Prakalpa, launched in 2013, is a cash transfer scheme aimed at retaining  girls in schools and preventing their early marriage.  In July 2017, Kanyashree Prakalpa won the first prize at United Nations  Public Service Awards in Hague.
