New Delhi, Feb 22: It was a comfortable six-wicket win for Andhra Pradesh against Delhi in the fourth Quarter-final of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Palam cricket ground here on Thursday.
Despite being considered as minnows, the Andhra bowlers came all gun blazing against one of the title favourites Delhi, who were boosted by the comeback of star batsman Gautam Gambhir, and helped their side to advance to the semifinals.
Opting to bowl first, the Andhra bowlers dominated the match right from the word 'go' and went on to bundle out the Delhi side on a paltry 111 runs in 32.1 overs.
Wicket keeper Rishabh Pant was the top scorer for Delhi with 38 runs, while Andhra's pacer Duvvarapu Siva Kumar was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 4/29, while Bhargav Bhatt scalped 3 for 28 runs.
Chasing the 112-run target, Andhra too, started on a poor note, as they lost opener Srikar Bharat (0) and skipper Hanuma Vihari (6) with just 11 runs on board. However, Ashwin Hebber's 38, followed by Ricky Bhui's 36, lifted the side out of danger ,while Bodapati Sumanth chipped in with 25 runs to help Andhra chase down the target with ease in just 28.4 overs.
For Delhi, skipper Ishant Sharma, Pawan Negi, Navdeep Saini and Nitish Rana bagged one wicket apiece. UNI
