New Delhi, Apr 18: In a surprise development, senior Aam
Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khetan resigned as vice-president of Delhi
Dialogue Commission (DDC), saying that he is joining legal profession.
"I have resigned as VC, DDC, with effect from April 16. During the past
three years, I had a unique opportunity to shape public policy & bring
about reform and change in governance. I am grateful to Arvind Kejriwal, the
Hon’ble CM, for giving me this wonderful opportunity," the AAP leader said
in a tweet on Wednesday.
Citing reason of his resignation, Mr Khetan said, "I am joining the legal
profession and enrolling with the Bar at Delhi. Bar Council Rules prohibit
practicing advocates from any kind of private or government employment."
It may be noted that the announcement of his resignation comes a day after cancellation of appointment of nine advisors to Delhi Government posted in different Ministries. UNI
