SRINAGAR, JUNE
13: The Labour Department has provided an amount of Rs 5.80 crore
to the 22,551 registered labourers of the state under various schemes during
the year 2017-18.
This was stated
by the Vice Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers
Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB), Mudasir Amin, after distributing Cheques worth Rs 25
lakh among the beneficiaries under various labour welfare schemes at an
awareness camp organized at IMPA here today.
Among the total
amount, Rs 12, 30000 were given in death cases, Rs 1,97555 in chronic disease
cases, Rs 8,80000 assistance in professional degree and Rs 1,60000 accident
cases were given to the beneficiaries and their dependents.
On the occasion,
the Vice Chairman said that more Rs 2 crore has been released by the department
on account of lower education to the dependents of the beneficiaries who are
registered with Labour Department.
Highlighting
various schemes meant for the welfare of the labour community, the VC directed
the field officers to conduct awareness camps in their respective districts so
that people avail benefits of these schemes and programmes launched by the
central and state governments for the welfare of the Labour class.
Labour
Commissioner Bashir Ahmad Khan, who is also the Chief Executive Officer
JKBOCWWB was guest of honour at the occasion. He gave a detailed resume about
the progress and other activities of the Department and the Board and advised
the workers of Labour Union to work with dedication and come up to the
expectations of the Labour class.
He also directed
the concerned officers to accelerate the disposal of cases under various Acts
to ensure benefits of welfare measures reach to the workers.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Rabia Iqbal, Deputy Labour Commissioner,
various union leaders of Labours besides a large number of labourers and their
dependents were present on the
occasion.
