BJP will never compromise on its core issues: Raina
Jammu, July 06: Jammu & Kashmir BJP today deeply remembered and paid  floral tributes on the portrait of Dr. Shyama Parshad Mookherjee, the great ideologist and founder of Jana Sangha, on his 117th  birth anniversary.
The programme was presided over by BJP State President Ravinder Raina (MLA). Former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLC Ashok Khajuria and BJP State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul were also present on the occasion.
Ravinder Raina while paying tributes to Amar Shaheed Dr. Shyama Parsad Mookherjee remembered the contributions of Dr. Mookherjee for the unified Nation. He remembered the debates of Dr. Mookherjee and his sayings in the Parliament, whenever the need was seen. He said that Dr. Mookherjee was never fond of power or his lust and was always on the forefront to resist any harmful movement of the government. He truly took forward the cause of all the freedom fighters when the then government forgot to serve the Nation. He also recalled his pledge of crossing the border between the states of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab at Lakhanpur at the stake of his life.
Raina said that in that time our forefathers had to wait for months together to visit Ganga Maa after the death of near and dears. Also the persons who wanted to visit Maa Vaishno Devi had to struggle to pay their obeisance. Amar Shaheed Dr. Mookherjee laid down his life for the better future of the J&K State and the Nation. BJP is today carrying out his mission only and that’s why BJP opted out of power only after the completion of 3 years, when it seemed that as partner in the government, all was not being achieved for what government was formed. For BJP, only Nation matters, not the power and we will never compromise on the core issues of BJP like “Ek Vidhaan, Ek Nishaan, Ek Pradhan”, Raina roared.
Kavinder Gupta while addressing the gathering, also recalled the period of struggle for the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishaan” as well as the continuous struggle of BJP veterans for the Nation. Gupta said that when Dr. Mookherjee crossed over  border and was jailed for his Nationalistic effort, his Advocate Uma Shankar was told that his life is in danger by the then government for which tried for investigation but Dr. Mookherjee died. He alleged that he was murdered cold blooded and the true cause of his death is still not known to the masses. He stood as symbol of ethics and humbleness throughout his life and after his death.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that BJP is a name of Nationalism. It is not a party but a group of likeminded persons who have come together with a pious mission to serve the Nation and the society. He said that the large and extended party is the fruit of the tree sown by the stalwarts like Dr. Mookherjee with their sweat and blood. He said that we must pledge to remember his actions and preaching by our mind and hearts to pay him true tributes.
Ashok Kaul threw light on the life events of the great ideologist and prompted party activists to follow the footsteps of great leader. He said that the idea of this great organization went through various ups and downs but always progressed with the effort of these great persons who sacrificed their lives for the Nation.
BJP State General Secretary Pawan Khajuria conducted the proceedings on the occasion.
