SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER
22: Commissioner Food safety, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar today called upon
all the un-registered Food Business Operators (FBOs) as well as those intending
to start a food business to get themselves registered as it is mandatory for
carrying out the business practice.
The Commissioner
said that although Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)
licensing process was started in August 2011, however during the special drives
it was found that most of the FBOs are showing reluctance and delay in
obtaining or renewing the mandatory license/registration. He also said they do
not put on display FSSAI license/registration at a prominent place in their
premises.
“To speed up the
process of mandatory licensing/registration for carrying food business, a team
of Food Safety Officers shall conduct special drives throughout the state,
wherein all stakeholders especially FBOs and any party intending to start a new
food business shall be sensitized and informed about the importance of
license/registration and steps to be taken for obtaining the same,” he added.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Food Safety issued an advisory for Food Business
Operators wherein they have been advised to obtain mandatory
license/registration besides other necessary information for carrying out food
business under compliance to the Food Safety & Standards Act.
