Udhampur, July 10  :  To make “Back to School” initiative more vibrant and to ensure 100 percent enrollment in the schools, District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr. Piyush Singla today called for involving PRIs and civil society to bring accuracy in the school dropout survey.

The DDC was chairing a meeting to review the progress made in this regard.

Additional District Development commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Joint Director Planning, Rajiv Bushan, Chief education Officer, Sardar Daljeet Singh, ALC Ranjeet Singh,Project Officer, National Child Labour Project, Ram Paul Gupta, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Ram Kumar, Zonal Education Officers and Zonal Education Planning Officers of all the 11 zonal of Udhampur district attended the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, DDC said that the aim of launching such type of programme is to ensure 100 per cent enrollment in the schools, besides bringing the dropout rate to zero. DDC said that “Back To Schools” programme is launched by District Administration to cover all children below 14 years and also endure that no child be out of school. He said the campaign would go a long way in improving the quality of education and literacy rate in the district.

He stressed upon the zonal Education Officers to bring accuracy in the school dropout survey launched to assess the actual number of ” Out of School Children” in the district and complete the same by July 25, 2019.

The DDC emphasized that the children below 14 years of age and out of schools shall be identified by involving PRIs and prominent citizens of the area. For the purpose, he asked ADDC to spread the awareness of the initiative in the rural areas through field functionaries of RDD.

Singla said that District Administration is contemplating to provide monthly allowance and free books to the target group and special bridge course offering different levels of education by the existing staff. A 24 x 7 help line numbers (01992 – 272727/272728) has also been dedicated where any clarification in this regard can be obtained, he added.
