RAMBAN, APRIL 29: A meeting of District Child Protection committee was held under the chairmanship of District Programme Officer (DPO) Ramban Ashok Pandita, here today.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Ramban Dr. S.D. Khan, District Social Welfare Officer Ramban Varunjeet Charak, Dy. Chief Education Officer Ramban Balji Thaploo, Sunny Kumar PC National Development Foundation (NDF), Retish Suri PC NDF, CDPOs, Labour Officers, Members of District Child Protection Committee, Members of Block Child Protection Committee Gool, civil society members and representatives of children groups. The meeting was facilitated by NDF, SC and EU.

DPO apprised the participants about the progress under ICPS scheme and shared that the government is in process of formation of Child Welfare Committees and Juvenile Justice Boards that will benefit the children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law as they don’t have to move to any other district and quick disposal of the issues of children will be ensured through these district level structures.

He asked the members of District Child Protection Unit, District Child Protection Committee, civil society members and others to identify and report the issues in their concerned area to develop a safe and protective environment for the children.

A brief discussion on various child protection issues was held and it was decided that the Village Child Protection Committees and children groups framed by NDF in 20 villages of Gool will be merged under ICPS scheme and education department will also take over the student forums framed by NDF.
 Schedule of various activities for welfare of children and action plan of DCPU was also finalized during the meeting.
