Baramulla, Apr 12 :  In a significant move and to comply with the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding the care of families of all such officials/workers who are fully engaged with anti COVID-19 activities, District administration Baramulla today launches helpline for the families of front line workers on which they can register their issues pertaining to their day-today life.

In this connection, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo informed that a special link has been established on the district’s web portal www.baramulla.nic.in on which the families of all such workers, who are engaged in anti-corona task, can online register their issues/demands with respect to their routine life. DC also informed that such families can also seek any kind of assistance on our helpline number 9596422033.He further said a dashboard has been also created on the same web portal where every type of information about the COVID-19 pandemic can be obtained.

DC also informed that this is the first of its kind initiative in the whole J&K that has been taken by the district administration so as to check fake news and misinformation. On the created dashboard, the current status and statistics of COVID-19 can be obtained which is being continuously vetted by the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, Dr Itoo inspected various locations including Indoor Sports Stadium Baramulla, DPS Delina and other locations in order to take the appraisal of various arrangements for setting additional quarantine centres as a move to tackle any kind of exigency in view of COVID-19 outbreak.

On the occasion, DC directed the concerned authorities to put in place a viable mechanism so that any kind of eventuality is tackled smoothly. He informed that about 372 persons have been quarantined in isolation, hospital and administrative facilities. He also said that about 15270 persons have been put under home quarantine in all the declared red zones comprising several villages of Tangmarg and Uri. He further informed that about 129 persons have completed their institutional quarantine while as 7413 persons have completed the home quarantine period. Moreover, DC added that 302 were tested for the virus among which 49 samples were found positive while as the remaining as negative besides 2 deaths that were reported at Srinagar.


Baramulla, Mar 22 :  Complying with the message of Prime Minister, people across the Baramulla district today observed Janta Curfew as a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk that may arise due to Coronavirus outbreak.

Shops and other business establishments remained closed while as the complete restriction on the movement of public transport was imposed.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Ghulam Nabi Itoo inspected several places, including Government Degree College for Boys Baramulla, Boys Hostel Baramulla, Saint Joseph Hospital and other institutions in order to take the appraisal of various arrangements for setting additional quarantine centres in the district. The initiative was taken as a precautionary measure to tackle any kind of exigency that may arise due to Coronavirus outbreak.

On the occasion, the DC took a detailed review of various necessities wherein he directed to put in place a viable mechanism besides mobilizing resources in this regard. He stressed upon the concerned authorities to work in coordination and cohesion at this critical juncture.

Earlier, the police department under the overall supervision of SSP Baramulla Abdul Quyoom and in collaboration with CRPF and other security agencies carried out Sanitation cum Fumigation drive across Baramulla town. During the drive, several places of vital public importance were sanitized as a move to mitigate the risk of infection.

Baramulla, Jan 25 :  Union Minister for Information Technology and Communications, Ravi Shankar Prasad Saturday said that districts form key entities for the execution of any government welfare programme and district level cyber space acts an important link between administration and citizens.

The Union Minister made these remarks here in the presence of Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan after launching website for Srinagar and Baramulla districts developed using Secure, Scalable and Sugamya Website As A Service (S3WaaS) framework.

The website has been designed and developed by and shall be hosted and maintained by National Informatics Centre (NIC).

In his address, the Union Minister said that districts are the key entities in the government structure where actual execution of schemes and programmes take place and district level websites are implicit cyberspace and an important link between the administration and citizens. 

S3WaaS framework has been envisaged to bridge this gap and built with an objective to empower the district administrations to generate, configure, deploy and manage secure, scalable and accessible websites for publishing district-specific information and services.

Regarding the functioning of Internet Facilitation Centres (IFCs), State Informatics Officer NIC, J&K apprised the Union Minister that NIC Barmulla has established these centres in District Baramulla in collaboration with the district administration and so far more than one lakh users have availed internet facilities at these centres.

The users include students and faculty members of various schools, colleges and universities, doctors, paramedics and faculty members of associated hospitals of Government Medical College Baramulla, businessmen, tourists, hoteliers, contractors etc.

It was said that district level officers/officials used the internet facility at these centres for their official day-to-day work like uploading / downloading of data regarding centrally sponsored schemes, tendering, GST returns, income tax filing, and accessing mail service.

Among others, District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr GN Itoo, State Informatics Officer NIC J&K Abhay Kumar, District Informatics Officer Baramulla Sheikh Barkatullah , District Informatics Officer Srinagar Farooq Ahmad and other concerned were also present on the occasion.


Srinagar, Feb 22 :  An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Sopore township of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday morning, police said.

Acting on specific input, the security personnel launched a cordon and search operation in the Warpora area of Sopore, they said.

A senior official said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired at the search party of the security men, who then returned fire.

The exchange of fire was on and further details were awaited, he added.                [Agencies]



Srinagar, Dec 13 (PTI) Two militants were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said here on Thursday.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Brath Kalan area of Sopore on Wednesday evening following information about presence of militants there, an Army official said. 

He said the operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on security forces.

Two militants have been killed, the official said, adding the operation was still in progress.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain ultras was being ascertained, he added.




DC calls for active participation of youth in sports activities
          BARAMULLAOCTOBER 05: Describing sports as a vital element in the overall personality development and growth of youth, District Development commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash today asked youth to actively participate in various sports activities of their choice.
          The DDC said this while addressing the concluding and prize distribution ceremony at the North Kashmir Sports Festival organized by the J&K State Sports Council at Showkat Ali Stadium Baramulla.
          Dr Naqash said that sports festivals like these provide the much-needed platform to the budding players to exhibit their potential and talent. He said such events also boost the sports passion and spirit among youth.
           Pertinently, the festival involved a series of sports activities in different categories like volleyball, hockey, kabaddi etc wherein about 1100 players participated.
          Later, a prize distribution ceremony was held during which awards including cash prizes were given to the best performing players.
          Among others, Director Planning, District and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.


Act an iconic tool of transparency, accountability: ADC Bla
          BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 05: With an aim to sensitize the Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Assistant Public Information Officers (APIOs) about the effective and positive use of Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 (RTI Act), a day-long awareness cum training workshop was today organized here at Dak Bungalow with Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba as the chief guest.
          The workshop was organized by J&K RTI Foundation which marked the participation of concerned PIOs, APIOs and various other concerned.
          On the occasion, a special Power Point presentation was given by the Foundation's chairman Irfan Ali Banda wherein he presented a detailed account of the relevant provisions of the act. He stressed for effective and positive use of RTI Act and said that the act is a vital tool in strengthening democracy at grassroot level. Moreover, he said that the main objective of holding the workshop is to sensitize Public Information Officers (PIOs) to provide required information to the people under section 4 of the Act. He urged upon all the stakeholders to make the RTI Act as stronger as possible so that no one could be the victim of misinformation.
          Describing RTI act as a tool of accountability and transparency, the ADC complimented the Foundation for organizing the workshop in district Baramulla adding that such an initiative proves beneficial in strengthening governance mechanism. He further said that seeking information from the government is the right of the information seeker while as it is the responsibility of an officer to give him information in a time-bound manner. He also said that Officers ought to provide information voluntarily to the public so that people do not feel the need to seek information through RTI act.
          A question-answer session was also held during which queries raised by different stakeholders were cleared by the speakers besides evoking feedbacks and suggestions in strengthening the legislation.


BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 03: With a view to ensure free and fair conduct of Municipal elections and to facilitate the field functionaries with Election process in Municipal Committee Pattan/Kunzer, the Chief Electoral Officer has appointed Nazir Ahmad Mir as the General Observer for the said municipalities.
The offices of the Observer have been established in the SDM office Pattan and Town Hall Kunzer for Municipal Committees Pattan and Kunzer respectively.

Advisor’s stresses for participation of youth in games; Terms ‘Khelo India’ prog an initiative to revive sports culture
BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 25: In a bid to give fillip to the sports activities and to involve more and more youth in such events, Advisor to Governor B B Vyas along with Advisor K Vijay Kumar today inaugurated 4-day long North Kashmir Sports Festival 2018 at Showkat Ali Stadium which witnessed the overwhelming participation of young and enthusiastic sports persons and athletes from the area.
The Sports Festival is organized by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council wherein about 1100 players are participating in various sports activities including Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Handball, Hockey and other games which shall be organized at different levels.
Meanwhile, a Kabaddi match was also played during the inaugural ceremony between Handwara Kabbadi Club and Sopore Kabaddi Association which was won by the Sopore Association.
Addressing the participants and locals, Advisor B B Vyas who was the chief guest on the occasion, hailed the JK Sports Council for organizing the Sports Festival and said that such events enables our youth to channelize their potential in a positive direction. He said that sports activities have a profound and significant impact on the social and mental development of our youth besides urging them to participate with more frequency in such events.
Reiterating upon the Government’s commitment of developing sports infrastructure, the Advisor said that various sports activities are being organized across the length and breadth of the state under centrally sponsored "Khelo India" sports initiative. 
“There is no dearth of talent in our state, it only needs to be harnessed in a positive way so that youth get a chance to display their skills and move ahead”, B B Vyas said.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar, who is holding the charge of Youth Services & Sports department, urged the parents to let their wards to choose sports field as the carrier avenue for their holistic development.
With regard to the government’s initiative to upgrade sports infrastructure in the state and to involve youth in sports activities, the Advisor said that the centre has sanctioned Rs 14.30 crore under Khelo India programme and the funds have been further released for utilization under the same. “Khelo India initiative would sure give boost to sports activities in the state and encourage youth for their participation in games, other related activities”, Kumar said.
He further said that divisional/district level Task Force have also been established for ensuring promotion of sports activities in every district, he said adding that the concerned DCs have prepared Action Plan under which various kinds of activities would be organizing at every level.
Giving out the details of the festival, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary said that it which will continue for 4 days and will cover all districts of North Kashmir. More than 1100 players would be participating in 5 different sports disciplines,” said Chowdhary.
District Development Commissioner Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash assured every possible support from the district administration in promoting sports culture among youth.
On the occasion, a colorful cultural program was also presented by school children and cultural troupes.

Visits Gulmarg; Reviews Wildlife Protection, Tourism Deptt activities
BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 22: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today asked the Wildlife Protection and Forest Department to take steps to promote Wildlife Eco-tourism and to harvest optimum level out of Eco-tourism potential the nature has bestowed the state with.
This was stated by the Advisor during his extensive visit to Gulmarg today where he chaired a meeting with the officers of Forest and Wildlife department to review the Wildlife Protection activities in the protected areas.
The Advisor was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Forests, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi during the tour.
While reviewing the functioning of Wildlife Protection wing of the Forest department, the Advisor was informed about the details of protected areas including Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary and species of animals, birds found in these areas.
Threadbare discussions were held on the rare species that find space in the protected areas along with conservation measures taken by the Wildlife Department. The Advisor asked the concerned officers to explore the potential of organizing jungle camps, educational tours to these areas roping other concerned departments including Youth Services & Sports and Tourism.
“This move will help the wildlife loving people and students to come closer to the nature and feel the importance of wild animals and rare species in the eco-system,” K Vijay Kumar said adding that Wildlife Associations can be roped in for their help and promotion of Eco-Tourism under Wildlife in the state.
Various other issues related to the forests and its allied departments were also discussed and directions were given to the concerned officers accordingly.
To have the first-hand appraisal of tourism related activities at the world-famous ski resort, the Advisor also chaired a meeting with the officers of Tourism department and Cable Car Corporation. With regard to developmental activities and facilities being provided to the tourists, he sought details from the officers of Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA).
The Advisor asked for details of tourist footfall this year and strategy of the Tourism department to attract more tourists.
It was informed that usually the inflow picks up during the winters and various activities are being organized by the department during peak snow season in Gulmarg.
With regard to the solid waste management, CEO GDA informed that a Solid Waste Management Plant has already been installed at Gulmarg treating the waste collected here. For the proper disposal of pony dung at Gulmarg, the Advisor asked the concerned for installing dung disposal plant. He asked them to study the model that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has adopted for the purpose.
Various other developmental issues were also raised by the officers that discussed briefly including status of construction of pony path and others.
MD Cable Car Corporation, Shamim Ahmad briefed the Advisor about revenue generation and other issues related with the functioning of the corporation. The Advisor suggested for installing bio-degradable toilets for the use of tourists at both the halt points keeping in mind the nature value of the area.
K Vijay Kumar also discussed the security scenario in the area with the senior army and police officers.
Later, he met with various local delegations including Pony Owner Association, Traders Association Gulmarg, Contractors Association and Tourists Guide Association who apprised the Advisor about their issues and demands.
Pony Association called for construction of shed for ponies, representatives of Tourist Guide Association requested for office building and enhancement of charges, contractor’s association sought the intervention of Advisor in releasing their pending liabilities while as Trader Association also presented their demands and concerns.
Giving patient hearing to the demands, the Advisor assured them that their genuine issues/demands would be looked into and be resolved in timely manner.
SSP Baramulla, ADC Baramulla, MD JK Cable Car Corporation, CEO Gulmarg Development Authority, GM JKTDC, SDM Tangmarg, DFO Tangmarg and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.



BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 13: Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba today imposed a fine of Rs 14000 on several leading companies and Hoteliers for providing items in unhygienic condition besides other sub-standard services to the visiting customers.
Accordingly, a team of officials inspected various companies and hotels wherein they found the sub-standard services being provided to the people. Consequently, the matter was brought into the notice of ADC, who is also the adjudicating officer imposed fine under various sections of Food Safety & Standard Act.


Srinagar, Sep 13: Two militants were Thursday killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Chinkipora near Arampora area of Sopore township in the north Kashmir district this morning after receiving intelligence input about presence of militants in the area.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the forces.

"Two terrorists have been killed in the operation at Chinkipora," an Army official said.

He said the operation was in progress.

A cordon and search operation was launched by security forces this morning in Arampora area of Sopore in the north Kashmir district after intelligence input about presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

He said as the forces were conducting the searches, the hiding militants fired upon them.

The forces retaliated leading to an encounter, the official said.

He said the gunfight was going on and further details were awaited.

Srinagar, Sep 12 : Five Army men and a civilian were injured Wednesday in a road accident in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The accident took place as a passenger bus hit an Army vehicle in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district this morning, a police official said.
The injured have been taken to a hospital, the official said.PTI




BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 11Legal Metrology Department Baramulla has launched a massive anti-profiteering drive in the district after the decision of the Government of India with regard to reduction of Goods & Services Tax (GST) on various goods and services. 
          The drive included a check on footwear, sanitary napkins, paints and varnishes, electronic goods and other packaged goods.
“During the inspections, it was observed that while manufacturers of the goods that were checked have revised their maximum retail price and affixed stickers on the packages with revised lower MRP, the retailers are taking an undue advantage of the peculiar situation and are not always passing benefits of GST reduction to consumers,” a statement of the LMD said. 
Taking cognizance of the offence, Legal Metrology Officer Sopore booked a pharmacy for not passing benefits of GST reduction to consumers in the sale of sanitary napkins which have now been exempted from GST.
In Baramulla, a case was booked against a mobile phone dealer by the Legal Metrology Officer Baramulla for overcharging on mobile phones.
The LMD Baramulla has asked the traders to pass on benefits of GST reduction to the consumers wherever applicable.
Any consumer grievance in this regard may be brought into the notice of the Department at email id: aclmbaramulla@gmail.com for speedy redress, the statement added.


BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 11: Divisional Manager State Forest Corporation Baramulla, Arshad Ahmad, today visited various Imambaras of Pattan area to review the availability of firewood in view of ensuing Muharram month.
He was accompanied by the various functionaries and other concerned.
On the occasion, the Divisional Manager directed the concerned to ensure the availability of sufficient stock of firewood, especially during the Muharram days.

763 patients avail medicare, 54 volunteers donate blood
BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 08: A free medical cum blood donation camp was today organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Uri in collaboration with Block Medical Officer Uri to provide free medical aid to the poor and destitute. 
The camp was inaugurated by Sub-Judge Uri, Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone by donating blood.
On the occasion, about 763 patients from different areas visited the camp and availed the medicare and specialty facilities available in the camp. 
54 volunteers comprising of prominent citizens, civil society members, and various others donated their blood for the service of mankind.
Sub Judge Uri expressed the gratitude of the donors besides complimenting their endeavors for their job. He said that such initiatives help in saving the precious lives in times of need and stressed for organizing such camps with more frequency in future. He said that such camps help the weaker and downtrodden sections of the society who are not able to tolerate the burden of medical expenses.

Srinagar, Sep 8: Militants Saturday shot dead a civilian in Sopore township of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Militants fired upon the civilian in Bomai area of Sopore this afternoon, a police official said.

He said the civilian - Hakim-ur-Rehman, a resident of Reshipora Bomai - received critical bullet injuries in the attack.

The injured was evacuated to the nearby hospital for medical attention where he succumbed to injuries, the official said.

Police have registered a case in this regard and investigation in the instant matter has been initiated, he said.

BARAMULLASEPTEMBER 07: Block Medical Officer Sheeri Dr. Farooq Ahmad today organized day long mega awareness cum road show on Measles-Rubella vaccination programme at Sheeri Baramulla in which huge gathering of locals, students, ASHA and Anganwari workers and besides prominent citizens participated.
Worthwhile to mention here, that the programme was conducted in connection with the centrally sponsored campaign which aims at total eradication of two highly infectious viral diseases viz Measles and Rubella. The camp aimed at educating people, students and other target audience about benefits of vaccination and the impact of the disease besides other relevant information.
While inaugurating the event, BMO Sheeri Baramulla highlighted the salient features of the programme where he said, “Measles can cause serious complications and even death while as the rubella is a mild viral infection. Rubella causes several birth defects including abortion, stillbirth or a set of serious birth defects known as Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) to a pregnant woman during her first trimester”.
Later a Measles-Rubella Vaccination rally, comprising of students, ASHA and Anganwardi workers and other participants was organized.

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 05: A special naka was laid by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla Dr Zubair wherein more than 110 vehicles were checked during the day.
 Following the reports of overloading and traffic norms violation, ARTO Baramulla on Wednesday conducted vehicle checking and checked 110 Vehicles among which 14 vehicles were compounded and 20 Vehicles challaned for various violations committed against traffic rules. He was accompanied by Inspector Parvaiz Ahmad and other officials from Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Baramulla
Meanwhile, the inspection team informed the people about their duties towards observing traffic norms and road safety rules while travelling. The ARTO said that it was prime duty of the commuters to raise their voice against overloading and use of mobile phones by the drivers at the time of driving.
Further with a view to check rising pollution levels in the district, the team also checked the pollution checking centres in the district.
ARTO said “if any centre is found lacking the proper infrastructure for checking vehicle exhaust emission-based pollution, it will be shut down,”
ARTO also informed that teams have been constituted that would go around the district to check all the pollution control centres.
