Curated by pop star Lady Gaga, the concert will stream on April 18 on multiple global platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple.

"Health care workers on the frontlines of the #COVID19 crisis need our support. That's why I'm standing in solidarity with @glblctzn and @WHO for One World: #TogetherAtHome a one-night special event on April 18," Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter.

Like many film personalities, Shah Rukh has been doing his bit to contribute to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, the star provided 25,000 kits of personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline medical staff in Maharashtra fighting to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state. He has committed to donate the same to West Bengal.

Recently, he, along with wife Gauri Khan, offered their four-storey personal office space for treating COVID-19 patients.

The 54-year-old superstar had earlier announced various initiatives to help the country during the health crisis.

According to the Union health ministry, the death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 377, while the number of cases in the country rose to 11,439.

Mumbai, Apr 12 :  Actor Ajay Devgn on Sunday said he is "disgusted" over reports of healthcare workers being attacked by people at a time when the country is fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior" star's reaction comes weeks after several Bollywood stars condemned gruesome incidents of physical assault and stone pelting at doctors and other frontliners who are managing the COVID-19 outbreak in different parts of the country.

"Disgusted and angry to read reports of 'educated' persons attacking doctors in their neighbourhood on baseless assumptions. Such insensitive people are the worst criminals. #StaySafeStayHome #IndiaFightsCorona," Ajay wrote on Twitter.

Bollywood personalities including Rishi Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Hema Malini, Paresh Rawal among others have expressed their discomfort over the attacks on healthcare workers in the past.

India is currently under the lockdown with around 1.3 billion people asked to stay home in view of the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected over 8,000 people and claimed 273 lives in the country.

Los Angeles, Mar 31 :  Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is set to topline "French Children Don't Throw Food", based on American journalist Pamela Druckerman's autobiographical account.

Druckerman wrote the 2012 book "Bringing Up Bebe: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting" after she had a child in Paris, reported Variety.

She noticed that French children were well-behaved and slept through the night by the time they were two or three months old.

The most recent draft of the adaptation was penned by Jamie Minoprio and Jonathan Stern.

StudioCanal is financing and is set to produce with Blueprint Picture.

Hathaway currently stars in Dee Rees' Netflix film "The Last Thing He Wanted" and will next be seen in Robert Zemeckis' "The Witches" remake set at Warner Bros studio.

New York, Mar 24 :  In his new memoir, director Woody Allen has accused former partner Mia Farrow of fabricating the story that he sexually abused their adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow.

In his memoir "Apropos of Nothing", which was released by Arcade Publishing two weeks after Hachette dropped the book following protests.

"I never laid a finger on Dylan, never did anything to her that could be even misconstrued as abusing her; it was a total fabrication from start to finish," he wrote in the book.

The accusations were a "Ahab-like quest" for revenge from Farrow, Allen said referencing the obsessed whaling ship captain in Herman Melville's classic "Moby Dick", according to Ace Showbiz.

Allen was the subject of two separate investigations into the allegations in the 1990s but he was never charged.

The filmmaker also reflected on the possibility that Ronan Farrow, as Mia Farrow had hinted, may not be his biological son.

"One day Mia announced she was pregnant. I naturally assumed it was by me and the wolfsbane had finally kicked in; and despite her suggesting (Ronan) was Frank Sinatra's child, I think he's mine, though I'll never really know. She may have still been sleeping with Frank, as she hinted, and may have had any number of outside affairs, for all I know. As I said, we lived apart," he said.

Ronan Farrow, 32, has long been speculated to be Mia Farrow's lovechild with her ex-husband Sinatra.

Mia Farrow was married to Sinatra for two years but they remained friends until the singer's death.

Allen has dedicated the book to his 49-year-old wife Soon-Ye Previn.

It was his relationship with Previn, Mia Farrow's adopted daughter from another marriage, that led to the couple finally splitting up acrimoniously.

Talking about his romance with Previn, 35 years younger than him, Allen said "we couldn't keep our hands off each other" when they first fell in love.

The director said he and Mia Farrow were no longer together when he began dating her daughter. Mia Farrow learned about the affair after discovering erotic photographs of her daughter.

"Of course I understand her shock, her dismay, her rage, everything," he writes. "It was the correct reaction."

"Sometimes, when the going got rough and I was maligned everywhere, I was asked if I had known the outcome, do I ever wish I never took up with Soon-Yi? I always answered I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

The director said there were happy moments in his over a decade long relationship with Mia Farrow but he should have noticed the "red flags".

"She was not demanding, better informed than me, more cultivated, appropriately libidinous, charming to my friends, and, best of all, living directly across Central Park, so there was a major saving in carfare.

"In retrospect, should I have seen any red flags? I guess, but if you're dating this dream woman, even if you see a red flag you kind of look in the other direction.

Los Angeles, Mar 24 :  Broadway actor Aaron Tveit has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 36-year-old actor, who took to social media to share his diagnosis, said he is feeling much better now.

"I'm feeling much better. I consider myself extremely lucky that my symptoms have been very mild -- cold like with no fever -- as so many are experiencing much more serious symptoms, because this is a very dangerous virus, Tveit wrote on Instagram.

The actor said he had been quarantined since Broadway shows shut down on March 12 amid the pandemic.

One thing I have been experiencing is the loss of taste and smell, which I think is a big sign for people who are otherwise asymptotic, he added.

Tveit said he was tested earlier last week and found out the results this Monday, but had quarantined himself even before he went through the medical procedure.

This can affect anyone and even if you aren't feeling sick or showing drastic symptoms please take heed, stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see everyone at the theater again soon, he said.

Tveit joins a growing list of celebrities that have tested positive for coronavirus, including Idris Elba, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, Kevin Durant, former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, "Frozen 2" actor Rachel Matthews, Daniel Dae Kim, "Game of Thrones" star Kristofer Hivju, veteran Opera singer Placido Domingo and celebrated TV host Andy Cohen.

The coronavirus outbreak, that first emerged in Wuhan, China, has killed more than 16,000 people worldwide.

Mumbai, Mar 23 :  Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Monday was heavily criticised for one of his tweets, which claimed vibrations from clapping, blowing conch shells as part of Sunday's Janata Curfew would have reduced or destroyed coronavirus potency as it was 'amavasya', the darkest day of the month.

Bachchan's tweet comes in the wake of several similar fake news stories misinterpreting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal of clapping and clanging plates to express gratitude to those providing essential services during this global health crisis.

The 77-year-old actor took to Twitter and, in a tweet that has now been deleted, wrote, "An opinion given: 5 PM, 22nd Mar, 'amavasya', darkest day of month; virus, bacteria evil force at max potential & power! Clapping shankh vibrations reduce/ destroy virus potency Moon passing to new 'nakshatra' Revati.

cumulative vibration betters blood circulation."

Bachchan posted the tweet along with his picture, which had three question marks scribbled on it, leading many to wonder if the actor was sharing his opinion or questioning the theory floating on social media.

However, his tweet was met with criticism as netizens slammed him for tweeting something which was not factual.

On Sunday, even the Press Information Bureau busted the viral fake claim, writing, "NO! The vibration generated by clapping together will NOT destroy #Coronavirus infection."

Lyricist Varun Grover was among the first ones to slam Bachchan, writing that the actor should've been more responsible at a time like this.

"Shameful superstitions propaganda coming from a person with such huge reach. And we have learned to let go of 'besharmi' (shamelessness) of many of our celebs but this is DANGEROUS too. Indian lives are at stake here and you need to be more responsible," Grover tweeted.

Bachchan is one of the most active and followed celebrities on social media. His followers count on Twitter alone stands at a staggering 40.5 million.

A Twitter user wrote that it's painful when a respected opinion leader like him resorts to forwarding such opinions.

"I feel intense pain. Please only spread very scientific and medical views - people will promptly abide by you. They have so much faith in you. Please," the user wrote.

Bachchan's tweet was also slammed by many journalists, lawyers and activists, who asked people to "mass report the tweet" so that's it's taken down by the microblogging site for spreading misinformation.

Recently, Twitter removed a video uploaded by actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth who claimed the 14-hour window of total social distancing as advised by the PM was necessary to curb the spread of virus.

The video was reportedly pulled down as it violated Twitter's rules on misinformation.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country rose to 415 on Monday. Seven people had died till Saturday evening due to the virus.

Los Angeles, Mar 23 :  In a bizarre video shot from her rose petal filled bathtub, pop star Madonna has called the coronavirus pandemic "a great equaliser".

The music icon said the virus doesn't discriminate between rich and poor.

That's the thing about COVID-1. It doesn't care about how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are, how smart you are, where you live, how old you are, what amazing stories you can tell.

It's the great equaliser and what's terrible about it is what's great about it. What's terrible about it is that it's made us all equal in many ways, and what's wonderful about is, is that it's made us all equal in many ways, Madonna said in the video while having a milky bath in tub full of roses.

The 61-year-old singer, who had to cancel two of her concerts in Paris due to coronavirus outbreak, also referenced her 1995 song Human Nature in the video saying we are all going down together .

According to the Johns Hopkins coronavirus tracker, the death toll from the virus globally has risen to 14,641 with 336,000 cases reported in 173 countries and territories.

Mumbai, Mar 22 :  Superstar Salman Khan on Sunday appealed to his fans to take the risk of coronavirus seriously and follow the government's call for observing social distancing.

In a video posted on Instagram, the 54-year-old actor started by lauding all those who are fighting the battle against COVID-19.

He urged people to follow the government advisories, saying people are mistaken if they think they cannot contract coronavirus.

"I want to appeal to everyone that the government is asking something, so please take it seriously and don't spread rumours. It is a problem with everyone for a long time that they believe it will not happen to them. Anyone can get infected with the coronavirus, be it in bus, train or in market place. So why do you want to take that risk," Salman said.

He asked people to not treat the lockdown as a public holiday and appealed to them to stay indoors.

"This is not a public holiday, it is a very serious matter. Stop doing all this and start wearing masks to protect yourself. Wash your hands regularly, keep yourself clean and maintain a distance from others.

"What is the problem in doing all this. If it saves countless lives, including your own, then why are you not doing it. Please do this as it is a matter of life and death. This is my request to all of you," the superstar said.

The country is observing a 14-hour Janata Curfew on Sunday, as appealed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The PM made a fervent appeal to all Indians to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid getting infected by coronavirus and called for the curfew on March 22 from 7 am-9 pm, saying no citizen, barring those in essential services, should get out of the house.

Celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Hrithik Roshan among others had previously applauded PM's statement on Janta Curfew.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn also shared a video message where he asked people to defeat the "biggest villain" -- coronavirus.

"Every film has two kinds of characters one hero and one villain. In real life also, you will find many such characters. Today, not just for India but for the whole world, the biggest villain is coronavirus. The biggest heroes are those battling this virus.

"There many people like cleaners and alert citizens who are playing supporting roles in this battle. But the most interesting thing is that we are the casting director of this movie. It is in our hands whether we want to become hero or villain. Hands clean, then you're a hero. Hands dirty, then you're a villain," Ajay said.

The actor lauded the government, the authorities and the police for their efforts towards safeguarding the lives of the people.

"We just have to give support to them. So support them and take care of yourself. Do not go out of your house without any reason. Stay away from crowd. Do not let coronavirus survive. Climax is fun when the villain dies," Ajay added.

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Mumbai, Jan 30 :  Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has said the aim behind his upcoming movie "Shikara", about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir, is not to make anyone feel sorry for the community but to present how these people stood tall in the face of tragedy.

At the special 30-minute screening of the movie on Wednesday, the filmmaker said the film showcases how Kashmiri Pandits rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the tragic event.

"All of our homes were snatched. It's quite something that we stood strong on our feet... it took courage to tell this story. And tell it in such a way that people come to watch it. We didn't want to make a film where two people watch and say 'oh look how bad happened to them.'

"We wanted to make a film where you see what happened to us, and despite that we are standing tall, with hope in our lives, we are settled here. We aren't beggars, we didn't open our hands in front of the government, we stood on our feet. It's a big deal, not a small feat," Chopra told reporters.

Chopra said the team has made sure that "Shikara" is an entertaining film, but one which does not sell its soul to lure people into the theatres.

"It was tough to write this because I always thought I'll write in a way where people go and watch it in theatres. Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman had said, 'you shall entertain. You shall entertain without selling your soul.'

"This is very difficult, to make a film which people watch without selling your conscience. I'm proud that all of us here, my entire crew, didn't sell our conscience. We have

shown what has happened," he added.

The filmmaker said he dedicates his movie to his mother who passed away in 2007.

"My mother came here for the premiere of 'Parinda' with one suitcase but could not return. She came for a week and couldn't go to Kashmir for ten years. When I was making 'Mission Kashmir', I took her along because I had security. It was then she visited our house, which was by then ruined.

"I've made this film for my mother, and for all the mothers and people whose lives turned upside down in a month, in a day."

Featuring Aadil Khan and Sadia, "Shikara" is slated to be released on February 7.
horror master Stephen King

Washington, Jan 28 :  It is not a "perfect world" as the Academy Awards are still "rigged" in the favour of white folks, says horror master Stephen King in his response to the criticism he faced over his tweet about not considering diversity when nominating films and writers for Oscars.

The bestselling author recently courted controversy over his tweet that, "For me, the diversity issue as it applies to individual actors and directors, anyway did not come up. That said I would never consider diversity in matters of art. Only quality. It seems to me that to do otherwise would be wrong."

In an op-ed in the Washington Post, King, in essence, said that those judging creative excellence should be blind to questions of race, gender or sexual orientation.

"I did not say that was the case today, because nothing could be further from the truth. Nor did I say that films, novels, plays and music focusing on diversity and/or inequality cannot be works of creative genius. They can be, and often are," the 72-year-old writer said.

King, who was called out by many, including Ava DuVernay, for his tweet, praised the filmmaker for her 2019 Netflix miniseries, "When They See Us", about the wrongful convictions of the Central Park Five.

He said there has been "some" progress in the film community from the time when there were only a handful of African American directors in the business.

"... and about the only female director in Hollywood was Ida Lupino, who made hard-edged noir B pictures in the 1950s and later worked in television. Her directing work was never nominated for an Oscar or an Emmy."

King said one needed to look at the demographic makeup of the Academy voters to understand why Greta Gerwig ("Little Women") was not nominated for the best director Oscar.

The writer, reiterating actor Carey Mulligan's comments, said there was no way of checking how many voters actually watch all the eligible films, because viewing is on "the honor system".

"How many of the older, whiter contingent actually saw 'Harriet,' about Harriet Tubman, or 'The Last Black Man in San Francisco'? Just asking the question. If they did see all the films, were they moved by what they saw? Did they feel the catharsis that's the basis of all that artists aspire to? Did they understand?" he asked.

In the age of social media, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was trying to make changes in a "stumbling fashion far too slow", King said.

"In the years before #OscarsSoWhite (2015), the academy added about 115 members per year, arguing that a smaller voting pool kept the professional caliber of the voters high. If that makes you mad, it should.

"In 2019, the academy invited 842 new members, after inviting 928 the year before, which would bring the total to about 9,000. Give them credit for trying to catch up - but not too much credit," he argued.

King said, of the nine films nominated for Best Picture this year, the majority The Irishman, Ford v Ferrari, 1917, Joker and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are what his sons called "man-fiction" where there were "fights, guns and many white faces".

Bringing the article back to Twitter storm stirred by his January 14, King said he was white, male, old and rich, adding he didn't come from a family of money and worked as a minimum wage linger.

"It would be absurd to dispute that and equally absurd to apologize for it. The first two traits are genetic, and the last two are the work of Time the Avenger."

Pointing out his works that had contributed to the representation and diversity discourse, King said he was proud to have written about strong female characters facing complex issues, in novels that have often been adapted for movies or television.

"The span runs from 'Carrie,' a novel of female empowerment, more than 40 years ago, to 'Lisey's Story,' now in production as a limited series, about the power of sisterhood, a thing I learned about from my mother and her sisters, plus my wife's mother and hers.

"When people complained on social media a few years ago about Idris Elba being cast as Roland Deschain, the gunslinger at the center of 'The Dark Tower' books, I replied that I didn't care what the character's skin color was, as long as he could draw fast and shoot straight," he said.

King said this response reflected his overall attitude that, as with justice, judgments of creative excellence should be blind.

"But that would be the case in a perfect world, one where the game isn't rigged in favor of the white folks. Creative excellence comes from every walk, color, creed, gender and sexual orientation, and it's made richer and bolder and more exciting by diversity, but it's defined by being excellent.

"Judging anyone's work by any other standard is insulting and worse it undermines those hard-won moments when excellence from a diverse source is rewarded (against, it seems, all the odds) by leaving such recognition vulnerable to being dismissed as politically correct," he said.
Akshay Kumar

Mumbai, Jan 27 :  Superstar Aamir Khan on Monday thanked actor Akshay Kumar and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for shifting the release date of "Bachchan Pandey" to avoid box office clash with his Christmas outing "Laal Singh Chadha".

The 54-year-old actor, who will playing the titular role in the movie, an official remake of Tom Hanks' "Forrest Gump", took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the team of "Bachchan Pandey".

"Sometimes all it takes is one conversation. Thank you to my friends @akshaykumar and Sajid Nadiadwala for their warm gesture of moving the release date of their film Bachchan Pandey at my request. I wish them the very best for their film. Looking forward to it," Aamir tweeted.

Akshay, 52, also posted the new release date and poster of "Bachchan Pandey" on the microblogging site, saying he is always there for his industry friends.

"Anytime @aamir_khan, we're all friends here. Presenting - new look, new release date. Coming on 22nd January, 2021. In and as #BachchanPandey!" he tweeted.

"Laal Singh Chadha" features Kareena Kapoor Khan opposite Aamir, while Kriti Sanon stars alongside Akshay in "Bachchan Pandey".

In another tweet, Akshay announced that his film "Bell Bottom", which was earlier scheduled to come out on January 22, 2021, will now hit the theatres April 2, 2021.

"I know there are enough memes out there about me clashing with myself one day but 22nd January, 2021 is not that day #BellBottom will now release on 2nd April, 2021," the actor wrote alongside a poster of the Ranjit M Tewari-directed film.
Pop star Madonna

Los Angeles, Jan 26 :  Pop star Madonna has cancelled a London concert of her Madame X Tour because of an injury.

The singer was scheduled to perform the first of 15 shows on Monday at the London Palladium.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Madonna said she has been "plagued" by injuries since the tour started and has been advised by doctors to take rest.

"I am deeply sorry that I have to cancel my concert scheduled for Monday, January 27th in London. Under doctors guidance I have been told to rest for a few days.

"As you all know, I have injuries that have plagued me since the beginning of the tour but I must always listen to my body and put my health first. The last thing I want to do is disappoint my fans or compromise the integrity of my show," she wrote.

The 61-year-old singer added that she hopes the show on Wednesday, January 29, will go on as planned.

"Please know that it hurts me more than you can imagine to have to cancel any shows. Thank you again for your understanding."

The cancellation comes just few days after Madonna called off a concert in Lisbon, Portugal.

In December, she also cancelled a show in Miami, citing "indescribable pain" from an undisclosed injury.
Brad Pitt

Los Angeles, Jan 25 :  Hollywood star Brad Pitt's SAG win won't make it to his Tinder bio as the actor doesn't have a profile on the dating app.

The 56-year-old actor had joked during the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) awards that his outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role win for his work on "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" would boost his chances of finding on the the portal.

During an interview with Extra magazine, Pitt was asked if he was aware that Tinder subscriptions had risen because of his comments, to which he replied: 'I'm not on it. I'm not even really sure how it all works. It just sounded funny to me.'

While accepting his trophy at the awards ceremony last week, Pitt said he would add the honour to his list of achievements on his profile.

'I go to add this to my Tinder profile, Thank you my brothers and sisters, this means so much. More than I can possibly fathom. I watch everything, I watch you all and the work has been mesmerising, so I thank you all," the actor said in his acceptance speech leaving the audience in splits.
Leonard Bernstein

Los Angeles, Jan 22 :  Bradley Cooper's next directorial, a film based on the life of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, has shifted its base from Paramount to streamer Netflix.

According to Deadline, the rights for the film, which Cooper will direct and star in, has been been acquired by the streamer.

The 45-year-old actor has also penned the film's script in collaboration with Josh Singer, the Academy Award-winning scribe of "Spotlight".

The project will be produced by veteran filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese in addition to Cooper, Todd Philips, Fred Berner, Amy Durning and Kristie Macosko Krieger.

The movie will chronicle 30 years of Bernstein's life who rose to fame after he was tasked with conducting the New York Philharmonic when he was 25. His career skyrocketed when he wrote and composed the music for the iconic film "West Side Story".

It is being described as a "beautifully complex story of the marriage between Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre".

At one point, the film was set to be directed by Scorsese, who most recently collaborated with Netflix on his gangster epic "The Irishman". The director, however, later made way for Cooper to helm the project.

The film also assumes significance as Spielberg, a longtime detractor of Netflix, will produce it through his banner Amblin.

The project, which is expected to begin production early next year, will be theatrically distributed by the streamer so as to enable it for awards seasons.
Deepika Padukone

Davos, Jan 21 :  Actor Deepika Padukone on Monday said people must understand depression and anxiety are like any other illness and can be treated and her own experience has encouraged her to work for this cause.

"My love and hate relationship with this has taught me a lot and I want to tell everyone suffering from this that you are not alone," she said while recalling her own struggle with depression and mental illness.

"One trillion dollars is the estimated impact of depression and mental illness on the world economy," she said while receiving the annual Crystal Award here on the first evening of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2020.

"In the time it has taken me to accept this award, the world has lost one more person to suicide," she said.

"Depression is a common yet serious illness. It is important to understand that anxiety and depression is like any other illness and treatable. It was experience with this illness that encouraged me to set up Live Love Laugh," she said while talking about the foundation she has set up for this cause.

Padukone was given the award for her leadership in raising mental health awareness -- which she did by going public with her own experience with anxiety and depression.

Motivated by her own experience, she set up her foundation to provide awareness programs in schools in India, funding for free psychiatric treatment, medical education programs, public awareness campaigns and more.
Audience has always been smarter than makers: Varun Dhawan

Mumbai, Jan 19 :  Actor Varun Dhawan says at a time when the audience is exposed to different kinds of cinema at the click of a button, the onus is on the filmmakers and artistes to up their game by more than a margin.

The actor, who is the son of filmmaker David Dhawan, said even during the 1990s, his father had to be "careful" about making the right choices.

"Audience has always been smarter than the makers. Even during my dad's time he had to be careful while making films and even now we have to be, we will always have to be careful while making our choices.

"Today the consumer has a big choice with films, TV, OTT and international films. So you are competing at a very large level, you better get it right," Varun told in an interview.

The 32-year-old actor, primarily known for massy entertainers like "Main Tera Hero", the "Dulhania" franchise and "Judwaa 2", said he considers himself as an actor of the masses.

"I am a very janta (people) actor, I work for the people, I want my films to be liked. It is not like I have done a film and people don't like it. It is more important people like my films and the box-office shows that."

But Varun also has films such as "Badlapur", "October" and "Sui Dhaaga: Made in India" to his credits and he said he doesn't want to repeat himself.

"Hence, I am always trying to do things differently... It was my passion as an actor that I would love to be in such films where the role is so great, you get lost into it and it will be fun to act in it. The experience has been solid as an actor."

The actor, who will next be seen in "Street Dancer 3D", a film directed by Remo D'Souza, said there were a lot of ups and downs around the movie till it eventually happened.

"I did the film because I wanted to do it. It is not that I want to do a hit film so I should do a film like 'Street Dancer 3D'. There was a want for the film because I loved the idea. It stuck with me for a year.

"I felt we should do a film on it. I have never done a film for survival, not as yet. I hope that day never comes," he said.

"Street Dancer 3D" appears to be an extension in the dance-based universe of films like D'Souza's "ABCD" and "ABCD 2" but Varun said the new film has a lot more emotions in it.

The actor was part of "ABCD 2" and grossed over Rs 160 crore worldwide at the box office.

"There is a lot that is new in this film. It is not just a dance film. Dance is a way of expressing it. It is based on the life of a bunch of dancers who get caught with a certain problem. It is a coming-of-age story of a lot of young people of how they deal with success and being in a position of power and what they do."

The film explores subcontinental bonhomie when the dancers realise that for the British, Indians and Pakistanis are both brown-skinned immigrants.

Also featuring Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhudheva and Nora Fatehi, the film is slated for a January 24 release.

Los Angeles, Jan 18 :  Actor Robert Downey Jr is maintaining ambiguity over his much-talked about appearance in Marvel Studios' "Black Widow".

The actor exited the studio's money-minting Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark aka Iron Man last year with "Avengers: Endgame".

However, soon after there were reports that Downey Jr will be making one last appearance as Iron Man in Scarlett Johansson-led "Black Widow".

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Downey Jr was coy about the reports.

"Right. Great. I mean, it would be nice if they notified me. Forewarned is forearmed. They can do anything now. This could be a deep fake interview for all we know," the actor responded.

"Black Widow" will feature Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, an agent of the fictional spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D and a member of the superhero team, the Avengers.

Directed by Cate Shortland, "Black Widow" also stars Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, David Harbour and O T Fagbenle. The film is scheduled to be released on May 1.
