Kathua, May 05: District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, today chaired a meeting to finalize preparations for celebration of Red Cross Day on 8th May.
The DDC, who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Society, discussed in detail the catalogue of activities to be taken up during Red Cross Day celebration. He also laid stress on motivating people to be active members of the Society to help the people in distress and desolation due to food shortage, epidemic diseases or natural calamities.
It was informed that Blood donation and other health checkup camps will be organized to mark the significance of Red Cross Day.
The DDC directed ACD to intensify membership drives so that maximum number of people can be sensitized regarding the activities of Red Cross Society for larger interest of humanity.
He also passed instructions to the Chief Education Officer, who is also ex- officio secretary of the district Red Cross Society, to ensure First Aid Kits in all the schools and organize activities under Red Cross besides administering Red Cross pledge to the students.
Among others ADC Kathua, ACD, ACR, CMO, CEO and other officers were present during the meeting.
