KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 22: District
Information Centre, organised an Essay Writing Competition on the
theme of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ here at Government Middle School (A), PWD Colony, Kathua today.
A total of 11 students participated in the competition and expressed
their thoughts in English, Hindi and Urdu language.
Head Master, Rajesh Saraf was the chief guest on the occasion, while
students and staff members of the school were also present.
Participating students highlighted the importance of adequate drinking water,
sanitation, and hygiene as essential ingredients to ensure human health. The
same is true for proper wastewater management, which is a basic prerequisite
for environmental health.
The students also highlighted chronic water shortages and the inadequacies
of their existing water infrastructure as impediment in achieving cleanliness
and hygiene besides unprecedented population growth, rapid urbanization, and
increased economic activity are also cause of concern for increase dirtiness in
and around our society.
Chief Guest Rajesh Saraf in his address hailed the initiative of
Information Department for providing opportunity to the students who put forth
their thoughts on the subject of such importance. He further encouraged
students to actively participate in such activities as it teaches us to express
our thoughts freely.
Assistant Information Officer presented vote of thanks and appreciated
the participating students who presented their critical view over such an
important topic.
Mementos and certificates were presented to the participating students
by the chief guest.
