Srinagar,
Oct 17: Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in some parts of Civil
Lines in this summer capital as a precautionary measure since early morning on
Tuesday. Official sources said the restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have
been imposed in some areas under police station Maisuma to prevent any law and
order problem. The restrictions in Maisuma, strong hold of separatist
organistaion, was imposed following massive clashes between security forces and
demonstrators, who were protesting against a braid chopping incident in the
area on Monday. All roads leading to Maisuma and adjoining localities have been
closed with barbed wire and a large number of security forces and police
personnel have been deployed. “We have orders not to allow anybody to enter or
leave the Maisuma area,” a security force personnel told UNI. Nearby roads
leading to the market at Haji Masjid lane has also been closed by the security
forces. Similar restrictions have been imposed at Red Cross Road, Gaw Kadal and
Madina Chowk. Shops and business establishments at Gaw Kadal, Maisuma, Red
cross road, Madina Chowk and adjoining areas remained closed and traffic was
diverted through other routes due to restrictions. However, business and other
activities were normal in other parts of the Civil Lines, including Lal Chowk,
the nerve centre of the summer capital, Budshah Chowk and Koker Bazar. UNI
