Puducherry, Nov 18: Puducherry Chief Secretary Ashwini Kumar has said that the issue of three BJP nominated members to the territorial assembly will not come under his jurisdiction and he has nothing to do on the issue.
In an informal chat with newspersons after the children’s Day celebrations held at the Raj Nivas last evening, Mr Kumar said that he had received letters from the BJP nominated members. The Union Home Ministry had already sent notification on the issue and the Speaker had made his stance clear. ”Now I could do nothing in this case”, he said.  He said, immediately after assuming office, he was inspecting several departments, particularly the police department where several lapses were found. Promotions to the personnel were pending for long and this should be implemented as per the law, he added. He said Law and Order is properly maintained in Puducherry for which the town bagged the first prize and added labour skill training should be accorded to those involving in crimes for which police, labour and social welfare departments should function in coordination.
Asked about the differences between the Lt.Governor and the Chief Minister, Mr Kumar said that he is a government servant and should function as per the law. It is his duty to give advise to the Lt.Governor as well as to the Chief Minister, he added. UNI
