JAMMU,
DECEMBER 12- Minister of State for Transport and Revenue, Sunil Kumar
Sharma, today asked the concerned agencies to take up immediate repairs of
Udhampur-Chenani road.
The
Minister passed these directions in an emergency meeting convened here today
with the concerned agencies which was among others attended by SE, R&B
Udhampur, Executive Engineer, R&B Udhampur, Regional Officer of NHAI and
representative of Gammon India Co Ltd.
Taking
cognizance of the dilapidated condition of Udhampur-Chenani road, which is in
state of abject disrepair with multiple potholes as a result of ongoing 4
laning of the road, the Minister directed the executing agency, Gammon India
Ltd to immediately address the issue and repair the road at the earliest, so
that the passengers may not suffer.
He
said that the Udhampur-Chenani road has major traffic flow and with winter
conditions, may become treacherous. He impressed upon all concerned to expedite
these works so as to avoid accidents and make road safe to travel on in the
prevailing weather conditions.
The
Gammon India Co. Ltd. representative assured that they are in the process of
initiating works on priority.
During
the meeting, the Minister enquired the Regional Officer, NHAI about the issue
of repairing of old Kud Road.
The
Minister was informed that Rs.14 Crore have been allotted for the same and work
will start soon.
