New Delhi, Jan 20: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has rushed a team to Bodh Gaya on Saturday where a blast had occurred on Friday at a time when the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Bihar Governor SP Malik were present.
The team of NIA officials includes one Superintendent of Police (SP) and one explosive expert.
The blast took place opposite the Kalchakra ground, an important place of the Buddhist shrine. The explosive was hidden in a flask kept under a generator at a tea shop opposite the ground.
Searches were conducted in the vicinity by the police and two objects, suspected to be IEDs were recovered and defused. The police also found some wires jutting out.
A month long pilgrimage Kalchakra Puja of Buddhists is going on and Dalai Lama had just ended his daily sermon when the bombs were detected.
Nearly five years ago, Bihar Government requested Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for providing Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)’s security cover for the entire temple premises after a serial bomb blast occurred in July 2013, injuring three Buddhist monks.
Taking cognisance of the State Government request and religious importance of the temple across the world, the MHA directed CISF to make a security audit and proposal of deployment of force. The CISF has already surveyed the premise and submitted a proposal for extending the security cover. However, till date, Bihar Government has not taken any decision on the proposal, highly placed sources in CISF said.UNI
