Mumbai, Jan 15: The BSE sensex registered a huge gain of 337 points to 34,929.06, a new high on the first day of the week on the back of positive macro-economic data and encouraging corporate earnings.
The Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) too moved up by 91.55 points to 10,772.80. 
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 34,936.67 and 34,687.21 respectvely.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,777.20 and 10,713.80 respectively. 
All sectoral indices kept the market strong in early trade. In scrips, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel and NTPC advanced while selling in Indus Bank, ONGC, Hero MotoCorp and Maruti Suzuki capped from further surge, broker informed.
The gainers were HDFC by 3.93 pc to Rs 1830.50, ICICI Bank by 3.34 pc to Rs 328.20, Tata Steel by 2.06 pc to Rs 786.90 and NTPC by 1.57 pc to Rs 174.70.
The losers were Indus Bank by 0.85 pc to Rs 1691, ONGC by 0.62 pc to Rs 199, Hero MotoCorp by 0.43 pc to Rs 3670 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.37 pc to Rs 9424.90. UNI
