Patna, Feb 19: Congress fielded former AICC member Shambhu Singh Patel as the party candidate for by election to Bhabhua assembly seat scheduled on March 11.
State Congress working president Kaukab Quadri announced this today at a press conference organised at the state party headquarters-- Sadaquat Ashram. 
Mr Quadri said Mr Patel was committed to the party since long and the party had also received his valuable support. He said Mr Patel had been fielded from Bhabhua assembly seat following discussions with party president Rahul Gandhi. 
He said under the seat sharing arrangement, RJD would contest by-election to Araria Lok Sabha seat and Jehanabad assembly seat as Congress was given Bhabhua assembly seat.
State Congress working president said a five-member committee had been constituted at each seat including Araria Lok Sabha seat and would take over the work of five-member election campaign committee. 
Congress legislative party leader Sadanand Singh said Mr Patel had a clean image and his name was recommended by various members of the district party committee. He claimed that grand alliance candidates would emerge victorious on all seats. Mr Patel is considered close to Mr Singh, party sources said.
Leader of Congress in Bihar Legislative Council Madan Mohan Jha was also present on the occasion. UNI
