Srinagar, Mar 26: The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of
Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), left here on Monday morning to cross over to
other side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Uri in north Kashmir district of
Baramulla, official sources said.
The bus with 18 Kashmiris, who are travelling to POK to meet
their relatives separated in 1947 due to participation, has since reached Trade
Facilitation Centre (TFC), Uri, where more passengers will board it, they told.
The bus will later leave for Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC, before crossing over to other side, they said adding the exact number of passengers travelling in the peace bus, introduced on April 7, 2005, will be known later in the afternoon.
Similarly people travelling from POK will also be known in the evening, they added.
The bus has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947, to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow their travel on “ Travel Permits” instead of International passport. However, only state subjects from both sides of the LoC could undertake the travel after their names are cleared by the intelligence agencies of both the countries. UNI
