Leopard mauls minor boy to death in central Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 10: A minor boy was mauled to death by a leopard in the central Kashmir district of Budgam on Friday evening, official sources said.

They said the leopard entered village Gujerpati Drang at Khag area in Badgam district from a nearby forest. However, before the villagers could do anything, the big cat attacked six-year-old Parvez Ahmad Kataria near his house. The wild animal left Parvez in a pool of blood when the villagers attacked leopard, who later escaped into forest. The injured was rushed to local hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Later, the villagers protested against the Wildlife department, alleging that despite repeated requests, nothing was done to prevent infiltration of wild animals into the area. UNI
