New Delhi, Mar 9: The first week of resumed Budget session was washed out as Opposition members obstructed proceedings in the Rajya Sabha for the fifth consecutive  day on Friday.
When the Upper House resumed in the post-lunch session, Deputy Chairperson P J Kurien sought to remind the Opposition members of the TDP and AIADMK who had entered into the Well of the House that it was private members' business.
Amid the din, Pramod Tiwari of the Congress raised a point of order demanding taking up of the banks scam under Rule 167 which he disallowed as private members business was scheduled.
At this, several Congress members raising slogans joined the Southern MPs who were holding placards on special status for Andhra Pradesh and setting up of a Cauvery Management Board in the Well of the House.
As Jairam Ramesh rose to speak, his voice was drowned in the Opposition uproar forcing Prof Kurien to adjourn the House till Monday within minutes of the House reassembling.
Earlier, the House was adjourned till 1430 hrs.
Today was the fifth day in succession in the second half of the Budget session that the House has witnessed disruptions on various issues, leading to repeated adjournments and blocking transaction of Government business. UNI
