POONCH, APRIL 12: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohammed Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting to review the arrangements made by the district administration for Baisakhi Mela at Nangali Sahib.
Addressing the meeting, DC asked the officers to ensure that the devotees coming to participate in the festival/mela would be provided all kinds of facilities and logistic support. He said that efforts would also be made to ensure that devotees do not face any inconveniences.
During the meeting, arrangements pertaining to security, maintenance of law and order, traffic regulation, street lights, drinking water and power supply, cleanliness around the Gurudwaras, particularly at Nangali Sahib where big congregations will be held, were discussed in detailed.
The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure that all the arrangements are in place well in time. Police department has been asked to make appropriate security arrangements particularly where a big congregation being held during the festival days.
DC asked the health department to depute a team of doctors who shall remain camped during these days. PWD was tasked to remove dumped material on the roads leading to Gurdwara Nangali sahib for avoiding accidents and traffic congestions.
Earlier, the representative of Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee, Nangali Sahib informed the meeting about several issues and also expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being made by the district administration.
It was also informed that people from different parts of country particularly from neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana and several parts of J&K will arrive at Nangali Saib to celebrate festival.
Pertinent, to mention here that Deputy Commissioner on other day paid personal visit to Gurdwara Nangali Sahib, where he met with Mahant Manjeet Singh Sahib & Management Committee 'Shiromani Dhera Santpura Nangali Sahib and assured diligent efforts from district administration in ensuring peace full culmination of Baishaki festival.
The meeting was attended by ASP Anwarul Heq, ACR Ashraf Choudhary, CMO Dr. Mumtaz Bhatti, Executive Engineer PHE Rajinder Sharma, PDD Maqbool Naik, ARTO Abdul Rahim, DTI Poonch, besides members of Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee.
