Kolkata, Apr 20: St Xavier's University, Kolkata, has received approval from AICTE to begin MBA course from the coming academic year 2018-19, according to Father J Felix Raj, SJ, Vice-Chancellor, St Xavier's University.
The Xavier Business School, under the university, has been given the permission by the AICTE to run two sections with 60 students each, from August 7 this year, he said addressing the media here on Thursday.
"It will be two-year full-time residential course, offering specializations in Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Systems & Operations," Fr Felix Raj said.
He said eligible students who have passed XAT, GMAT, CAT, can apply for the course.
The VC said that the process of admission has already started and the university will hold group discussion at various centres outside Kolkata as well, depending on the quantum of applications received from each location.
St Xavier's University was established in 2017 as part of the vision 2020 plan of the St Xavier's College, Kolkata, a 158-year-old institution.
Fr Felix Raj said that the university began last year with two undergraduate courses and four postgraduate courses with 400 students.
"This year we are beginning 5 undergraduate courses and 6 postgraduate courses, including MBA," he said. UNI
