Agartala, May 4: Police has arrested three drug paddlers from a house at Math Chowmuhani market of the city last evening acting on a secrete information and arrested three persons and seized some contraband items and arms.
The Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Suman Majumdar said here today that police raided the house of one Nikhil Laskar in the market and recovered an air gun, three packets of brown sugar and some addiction tablets.
Police arrested tenant Panna Kar Choudhury and his two companions Atanu Bhowmik and Swadhin Das from the room. Panna and Atanu was the resident of Pratapgarh while Swadhin is a dweller of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. They are suspected to involve in interstate drug paddling racket.
“We are investigating the case to find out the entire network,” SDPO added.
In a separate raid in CPI (M) party office at Champaknagar, about 30km east of Agartala last night police seized two machetes and a Khukri(Nepalese knife) and a few other sharp cutting weapons but nobody was arrested in this connection.
While CPI (M) denied their involvement in storing the weapons, BJP alleged that they kept it to perpetrated violence. UNI
