Orders mapping of water deficient areas, removal of illegal connections
RAJOURI, JULY 17: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting of PHE Department to take stock of the water supply situation in the district.
Detailed discussions were held to explore more sources of water. Confluence of Darhali and Thananallah was suggested as source of water which can meet the requirement of 22 Lakh gallons for Rajouri town.
The meeting decided  to dig up a bore well to meet the shortage of water in the town.
The DC directed to start tanker service   in the areas facing shortage and asked the department to mobilise all available resources to provide relief to the general public. 
The DC asked the department to come up with a short term plan for meeting the shortage.
He also directed the department to activate its enforcement wing to keep check on misuse of drinking water for any other purpose. 
The DDC fixed deadline of one week for plugging of leakages in supply lines to prevent wastage. He also directed the concerned to initiate drive for removal of illegal connections from the feeders.
To devise an effective strategy, the DDC directed for mapping of water stressed areas so that water harvesting tanks and hand pumps can be provided to meet out the shortage.
He also directed for constituting a helpline to register the water scarcity complaints. JEEs were asked to create whatsapp groups of employees to check their presence at the place of their posting. 
The DC further directed for creating mass awareness about the judicious use of potable drinking water.
The meeting was attended by CPO AH Chowdhary, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Rajouri, Rafiq Khan, Executive Engineer PHE Division Rajouri/Nowshera, Executive Engineer(mech) Ground water and Drilling Division Jammu, Executive Engineer PHE Mechanical Division Rajouri  along with AEEs and JEEs.
