RAJOURI, JULY 17: District
administration Rajouri today decided to act sternly against illegal extraction
of minor mineral from river beds.
Stern action
under the rules will be initiated against the individuals and tractor owners
found involved in illegal extraction of river bed, the District Development
Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad said while chairing a meeting of concerned
officers convened to discuss the measures to prevent the practice.
Earlier, meeting
suggested various remedial measures to safeguard the aquatic life besides
protection of bunds of river. The DDC constituted a team officers to look into
the kind of illegalities in and around the embankments of river.
The meeting also
discussed the welfare measures for the persons earning their livelihood by way
of extraction of material from river bed.
The meeting was attended by District Mineral Officer Rajouri, Executive
Engineer I&FC Division Rajouri/Nowshera along with AEEs and JEES.
