Governor
inaugurates KV at CUJ

JAMMU, APRIL 26: The fourth Court meeting of Central University of Jammu was held today at its Main Campus, Raya Suchani (Bagala), Samba, to deliberate on the various developmental activities in the university since the last Court meeting held on 15th June 2015. The meeting was chaired by Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University.
Governor noted that in
research arena, some projects must relate to finding practical solutions to the
problems of J&K. Like-wise in the arena of security studies the
socio-economic and political implications of the Cross-LoC trade and Cross-LoC
bus services between India and Pakistan could be gainfully studied, as perhaps
the Chinese Economic Corridor through PoK and Pakistan.
Governor observed that the
Vice-Chancellor should redouble efforts for completing the University’s
infrastructure within a definite timeframe and advised that a scientific
survey should be carried out to map the ground water potential at the site of
the University.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashok
Aima, made a presentation about the activities undertaken over the past two
years and highlighted the achievements with respect to academics, research,
national and global MOUs, induction of new programmes and development works
being undertaken in the main campus. He further informed that at present ten
academic programmes were being run from the main campus, and some others would
be shifted here by July 2017.
Important issues discussed
in the meeting included strengthening the existing research and teaching -
learning processes besides broad- basing the community outreach engagements for
benefit of local inhabitants. Various measures have been taken by the
University for fostering entrepreneurship through the incubation centre and
offering various vocational programmes under B. Voc and Community college
programmes. The University has also opened a Kendriya Vidyalaya for
facilitating admissions to the aspirants of the University employees and
inhabitants of District Samba.
In the presence of Governor
an MoU was also signed between Central University of Jammu with National
Council of Rural Institute (NCRI), under Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD) Government of India, for promoting Rural Community Engagement and Social
Responsibility among the students.
The distinguished
educationist who attended the meeting included Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Tyagi, Vice
Chancellor, University of Delhi, Prof. Anju Bhasin Vice Chancellor, Cluster
University of Jammu, Prof. M.I. Haque, Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, Director, IIIM,
Jammu, Prof. Pervez Mustajab,Zakir Hussain College of Engineering &
Technology AMU-Aligarh,Shri Balwant Thakur,Consultant-cum-Regional Director,
Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu, Sh. Ashok Bhan, Patron, IIPA
J&K Regional Branch, Jammu, former Director General Jammu and Kashmir
Police and Deans and Heads of various Departments of Central University of
Jammu. Representatives of teachers, Non-Teaching Staff, Alumni representatives
and Students Council Representatives were also the members of the Court.
Earlier, Governor
inaugurated the Kendriya Vidyalaya of Central University of Jammu at village
Raya Suchani, Bagla, Distt. Samba.
