PULWAMA, APRIL 24: A day-long programme organized by the Education Department on the importance of “Saving the Girl Child’ under Beti Bachao Beti Padaho campaign was held here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that that the aim and motive of the social programme is to aware common people about the importance of girl child in the society.
He said the adverse and declining girl child ratio, across the region is a major cause of concern which will have negative impacts if not addressed effectively.
He said the Government, especially the Health Department, has focused on the implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act to stop female feticides and arrest the declining sex ratio.
The ADC said that every section of the society has to play its part to raise awareness about the importance of the girl child.
