Calls for judicious
use of funds, using quality material in construction work
PULWAMA,
MAY 06: In order to speed up the process of development, District Development
Commissioner Pulwama, Mr Muneer Ul Islam, today took a comprehensive review of
various developmental projects being executed under PHE and Irrigation Sector
during the financial year 2017-18 in the district at his office.
During
the meeting, it was revealed that 17 schemes will be taken up in the PHE sector
against a total allocation of Rs 542.62 lakhs in which 128 lakhs will be met
out under District plan and Rs 414.55 lakhs from NABARD. It was also stated
that three important water supply schemes in Tral, Pampore and Pulwama town
will be completed by the end of September 2017 which will provide relief to
local population.
While
giving details about the Irrigation Department, the meeting was informed that
there are 19 on-going schemes and the total allocation for this year will be Rs
540.83 lakhs out of which Rs 44.70 lakhs will be from District Plan and Rs
496.13 lakhs from Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP). It was also
given that out of 19 schemes, eight schemes will be completed by the end of
this year.
The DDC
directed the Executive Engineers to conduct periodical field visits to
personally monitor the status of schemes under execution so that the projects
are completed in a time bound manner. He stressed the need for ensuring quality
works on ground and judicious use of funds on each component. He also called
for further strengthening the monitoring mechanism to induce greater
accountability and transparency in the system.
Joint
Director Planning, G. M. Ganaie and all the Executive Engineers from PHE and
Irrigation department were present in the meeting.
