GANDERBAL, MAY 23: Civil
Defence Kashmir organized a day-long Disaster Management awareness programme in
collaboration with Wave Public School Pandach to sensitize the students about
various natural calamities and measures to mitigate losses during the
disasters.
Director MET Sonum Lotus was the chief guest on the occasion and
Director Disaster Management, Relief & Rehabilitation, Principal New Wave
Public School, Civil Defence, SDRF, NDRF and Disaster Management teams besides
as many as 500 students attended the awareness programme.
On the occasion, it was said that the valley is on seismic zone-V and
as such students must come forward to get knowledge about disaster management.
The Director MET during his speech said everyone should have knowledge
of rescue during calamities and the concerned Departments should work in tandem
besides using latest technology to minimize loss of life and property during
the disasters.
