Ensure uninterrupted power, water supply during Ramadan: Andrabi to officers

Inspects WSS Tangnar, listens to people’s problems

SRINAGAR, MAY 24: Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf, PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control, Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today exhorted upon concerned functionaries to revitalize their efforts for ensuring regular power, water supply to people during the month of Ramadan.

The Minister said this during his visit to Budgam district wherein he visited Aribagh, B K Pora and Kanpora and took stock of power and drinking water supply being provided to the people of these areas.

The Minister also interacted with locals and listened to concerns, problems being faced by them. He assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed by concerned departments well in time.

Taking note of the problems with regards to power, water supply, he directed the concerned officers to ensure uninterrupted supply to habitants during the month of Ramdan and instructed for tanker service to be deployed in case of shortage of water.

The Minister said that government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken various revolutionary and people friendly steps for the fast development of the State. He urged people to come forward and take benefits from various welfare schemes launched by government to improve the socio-economic condition of people in the state.

Meanwhile, during the inspection of Water Supply Scheme Tangnar, the Minister directed concerned functionaries to ensure time bound completion of remaining works under the Scheme. He inspected Stage I Pump Station, Storage P S Tank and Stage II Pump Station on his visit.

He also inspected 10 MGD Water Treatment Plant Tangnar and directed the concerned officers to expedite work on the plant for its time bound completion.

Syed Andrabi also exhorted upon senior officers of the department to conduct regular visits in their respective PHE installations and concerned habitations for streamlining water supply to the people. He directed them to put in their sincere efforts in making full use of available resources so that drinking water is made available to the people. He also directed the officers to maintain cleanliness in and around the area of water treatment plants so that clean water can be supplied for its use.

Chief Engineer PHE G M Bhat, Superintendent Engineer PHE Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer Chadoora Afrooz Ahmad among other senior officers accompanied the Minister during the tour.
