Minister
reviews various developmental works in Srinagar
SRINAGAR,
MAY 6: In a bid to develop Srinagar as a modern city, Minister for Education,
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, today directed all the departments to undertake
equitable developmental works in all constituencies of Srinagar.
The
Minister chaired a high level meeting here today to review the development
works going on in different constituencies of Srinagar.
The
meeting was attended by MLA Habba Kadal, Shamim Firdous, MLA Khanyar, Ali
Mohammad Sagar, MLA Iddgah, Mubbarak Gul, MLA Sonwar, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, MLA
Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, MLA Zadibal, Abid Ansari,MLC Khursheed Alam,
Div Com Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan, DC Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone,
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, Commissioner
SMC, Dr. Shafqat Khan, Chief Engineers from PDD, I&FC, PHE, R&B and
Mechanical, Director Tourism, Director Social Welfare, Director School
Education, Director Health and other concerned officials.
During
the meeting, the DC Srinagar briefed the Minister about the different
developmental projects which have been completed in 2016-2017. He was also
apprised about AMRUT and other schemes to be implemented in 2017-2018 which
include road widening, land acquisition, macdamization of roads, construction
of bridges and other works.
Regarding
uplifting the education sector in J&K, Bukhari said educational zones will
be set up in every constituency soon. It was given that nine community halls
have been completed at the cost of Rs 12.68 crore during 2016-2017.
It was
informed that four synthetic Basketball Courts have been constructed at Girls
Higher Secondary School Soura, Kothibagh, Nowhatta and Khanyar whereas Rs 38.80
lakh were spent on creation of Smart Classes in Srinagar.
The MLAs
of different constituencies of Srinagar apprised the Minister about different
issues and problems faced by the people of their concerned areas. After giving
a patient hearing, Bukhari ensured the representatives that all their concerns
will be addressed and promised equal development for all the constituencies,
irrespective of political affiliations.
As part
of preparations for the upcoming month of Ramadhan, Bukhari directed the PDD
and SMC officials to install and repair the streetlights so that people may not
face problems.
He said
the government under Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is keen for speedy
development of Srinagar as the work was hampered in 2016 due to violence.
Later, Bukhari kicked off a talent hunt football tournament URJA at Bakshi
Stadium which was organized by CRPF.
