JAMMU, MAY 20: Acting on the complaints of
overcharging by Common Service Centers (Kidmat centres), established by Unique Identification Authority
of India, the officers of Legal Metrology Department headed by
Assistant Controller, Kewal Krishan inspected two such centers at Rehari and found
the complaints genuine.
Common Service Centres are authorized by government to provide services
for AADHAR generation, biometric updates, AADHAR Search, downloading and
printing of licenses under FSSAI, PAN cards and alike.
Legal Metrology Department conducted surprise raids and booked two such Common
Service Centers for alleged violations of Rules and Regulation for cheating and fleecing consumers by
charging at their whims and fancies that too without issuing any cash memo against money
received from consumers.
UIDAI has cautioned the people not to fall prey to unscrupulous
entities. UIDAI informed that enrolment for AADHAR is completely free of cost,
updates in the Aadhar cards of children also bear no charge. For updating name, date of birth,
gender, address and mobile number the consumer needs to pay only
Rs.25. The general public is hereby informed not to pay any extra amount for
availing such services from these centers and in case
of any complaint, they can call on 1947 (Toll Free).
