ANANTNAG, MAY 03: Minister
of State for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Housing &
Urban Development, Asiea Naqash, today said that joint efforts are required to
protect the environment.
The
Minister was addressing a gathering at a day-long workshop on sanitation and
solid waste management organized by the Municipal Council, Anantnag, at Dak Banglow Khanabal here
today.
Asiea
urgrd the concerned authorities in particular and people in general to work in
unison for preservation of water bodies in the district.
She said
that a pilot project is in the offing at Uranhall for which 21 kanals of land
have already been identified for waste management in twin towns of Anantnag and Bejihehara. She said that
an amount of Rs.20 crore have already been sanctioned for the project.
The
Minister also visited the Rehmat-ul-Alam Hospital in Anantnag and directed the
hospital staff to maintain cleanliness in the premises.
District
Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director Urban
Local Bodies, Reyaz Ahmad Wani, ADDC Anantnag also attended the workshop.
