SRINAGAR MAY 09:  District Red Cross Society today organized Symposium, qirat competition and drama skit at City Central School Koolipora, Khanyar. The function was organized in connection with World Red Cross day.
          On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Poornima Mittal was the chief guest. Chief Education officer Srinagar Asif Iqbal and District social welfare officer Tariq Ahmad were guests of honour.
          Students participating in the symposium highlighted the role and importance of Red Cross Society.
Later Sabita Iqbal Naqsbandi bagged best orator prize, while Taufeeq Ahmad received first position in Qirat competition.
         Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Poornima Mittal distributed prizes among the winners.
          Speaking on the occasion Poornima Mittal said that every student should adopt Red Cross mission to get the disaster management training so that they will save precious lives during earthquake and floods. The students will also help the needy persons if they purchase the Red Cross tickets in their respective schools.
          Chief Education Officer Srinagar said that the valley is disaster prone area and students should adopt the Red Cross activities.

          District Social Welfare officer highlighted the need of Red Cross Mission. He also briefed the students about different schemes run by the department for the upliftment of poor students.
