Under-19 Inter School Volleyball Championship, Jashn-e-Cricket T-20 Tourney
\BARAMULLA, MAY 25: Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari today said that socio-economic growth and generating employment avenues for the people of the state is the prime objective of the present government.
The Minister was
speaking during the closing ceremony of Under-19 Inter School Volleyball
Championship organized by District Police Baramulla in collaboration with
Department of Youth Service & Sports (YSS).
IG North Kashmir
Nitish Kumar, SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain and various other officials of JK
Police and YSS were also present on the occasion.
While interacting
with the players, the Minister said that other than physical and mental
development, sports activities plays a vital role to create multidimensional
personalities in youth besides. He said that the government is keen to develop
sports infrastructure in the state hence providing world class
professional experience to make the talented youth as global leaders.
The Minister urged
the students to take active part in co-curricular activities for overall
development and assured that basic sports infrastructure and equipments will be
made available to them on priority.
He said that as
educators, it is our responsibility to nurture young minds and bringing out the
best in them. There is a need to give focused attention so that students with
different abilities and interests will be able to exploit their potential to
the full, the Minister said.
The Minister while
lauding the efforts of the organizers said that besides imparting quality and
value based education among students, providing them platform to showcase
talent helps them to excel in all fields.
Referring to the
developmental works under execution in the Sangrama Constituency, the Minister
said that several micro and macro developmental projects have been initiated in
the area. He said that measures are being taken to improve socio-economic
condition and assured that people of the area would witness a positive change.
Several deputations
met the Minister during his visit and apprised him about their concerns. The
Minister assured them that their genuine demands would be resolved in a phased
manner. In some cases, Bukhari gave on spot directions to the concerned for
immediate redressal.
Later, the Minister
also participated in the closing ceremony of Jashn-e-Cricket T-20 Tournament
organized by 29 Rashtriya Rifles at Watargam in Baramulla.
The Minister also
gave away the prizes to the winners and runner up teams and congratulated them.
He said that their active and continued participation in sports would pay rich
dividends to them in a long run.
