SRINAGAR, JUNE 12: On the directions of Minster for Health and Medical Education, a special 10-day drive launched in the Kashmir division to enforce the implementation of various provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act (FSSA) concluded.
The drive conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Food Safety Kashm was launched to ensure the availability of quality food products during the Holy month of Ramadan.
During the drive as many as 175 food samples with main focus on the quality of dates and milk products, besides, suji, juices and other food products, were lifted and sent for analysis.
Moreover, 23 prosecutions were launched against various food business operators which include bakery and bakeries for selling/manufacturing food products under unsanitary conditions, besides huge quantity of rotten vegetables/fruits were also destroyed during the drive.
The Food Business operators were directed to maintain proper hygiene and adhere to temperature control in case of perishable food items. It was said that the drive will continue in future as well. The general public is informed to contact on helpline number 0194-2495191 in case of amy complaints.
