SRINAGAR, JUNE 12: The Government has accorded sanction to the constitution of Working Group to work out modalities for operationalization of knowledge initiative for the students in the State.

          The Working Group includes five members including Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to Chief Minister, as Chairman, and Syed Altaf Ahmad Bukhari, Minister for Education, as Co-Chairman.

          Secretary Higher Education Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, has been appointed as Member Secretary whereas Financial Commissioner (Coordination), K. B. Agarwal, and Principal Secretary to CM, Rohit Kansal, have been appointed as Members of the Working Group.

          The Working Group, which has been constituted to prepare a vision document for interventions in skills, teaching, learning, research and innovation, has been tasked to prepare a blueprint for Information and Communication Technology initiatives that can harness the human resources talent in the State.

          According to the government order, the Group will also prepare policies, guidelines and schemes to ensure full literacy and competitive employability through an optimal use of existing infrastructure and human resources available in the State.

          Besides co-opting experts and members for the initiative as deemed appropriate in order to produce a time-bound report within twelve months, the Group will submit report to the Chief Minister and will work in close co-ordination with the relevant departments of the State Government.

          The Working Group will be serviced by the Higher Education Department.
