Lays stress on organization of literary conferences, extension lectures
SRINAGAR, JUNE 9: Commissioner Secretary Higher
Education Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today visited the Abdul Ahad
Azad Memorial Degree College Bemina to review the academics and ongoing
infrastructural projects.
Dr Samoon inaugurated the Integrated MBA Course of which the class work
commenced today. He visited classrooms and interacted with the students and
faculty wherein he shared his experience and knowledge with the faculty and
students.
He assured the students for exchange programme to IIM Jammu/IITs to have
an on-hand experience and exposure. He also suggested for inviting reputed
faculty from outside as guest faculty for delivery of lectures.
He also emphasized on promotion of Kashmiri language by way of teaching
and research. He suggested constituting of an award in the name of Abdul Ahad
Azad after whom the college has been re-named and laid stress on organization
of literary conferences and extension lectures on the contemporary poet and
activist Abdul Ahad Azad.
Dr Samoon also inaugurated the painting competition which was conducted
as part of weeklong environmental celebrations
He also took stock of upcoming new infrastructure of the college
viz-a-viz library block, academic block, administration block, meeting hall and
staff room which is coming up at a cost of Rs. 18.0 crore under PMDP. He
directed the officials of R&B for early completion of the project.
Commissioner Secretary Education inspected the existing infrastructure
of School of architecture which has been established by the State Government at
the college campus and directed JKPCC for its immediate up-gradation.
He also took review of status of common Girls Hostel being constructed
at college at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.50 crore under PMGSY and directed JK
Housing Board for its early execution.
He passed on suggestions for immediate up-gradation of College
Conference Hall, overall beatification of the college campus by way of earth
filling and landscape for which he assured the college administration adequate
support and funding.
