Drive against illegal parking intensified
JAMMU, JUNE 13 - Traffic Police City Jammu have
taken several regulatory measures to decongest BC road and adjoining areas to
facilitate construction of the multi-tier parking cum commercial Complex
Project here at General Bus Stand.
As per Traffic authorities, several initiatives have been taken to clear
congestion points around the area like main entrance/exit of Bus stand which
were causing congestion due to incoming & outgoing Buses, parking of Sumos, Taveera's etc near Trikuta complex- due to
parking of Kathua bound Buses & Chamb Route Buses, Parking of Buses near
Model Academy surplus stranded buses of Kathua/Udr. Route and K.0 Crossing due
to parking/Stand of Billawer bound Buses.
The measures were taken in close supervision of SSP Traffic City Jammu
and overall directions of IGP Traffic J&K.
The congestion caused by Chamb route buses due to frequent exit and
entrance to Bus stand has been cleared by changing the route of these buses.
Buses coming from Akhnoor road have been diverted to flyover through Vigilance
rotary to Bikram Chowk with ideal parking at Ware House. From Ware House these
will follow Jewel route and after a brief halt near St. Peter School will
proceed to Maheshpora Chowk. Moreover, Poonch route buses coming through Super
Specialty Hospital shall also adopt flyover for Narwal etc.
Similarly,
unauthorized stand of Sumos, Tempos & Taverass has been shifted from
outside Khalsa Petrol Pump Bus stand while only authorized vehicles are being
allowed to park there which has cleared right tube of BC road.
Likewise, illegal parking of Kathua route, Udhampur route & Chamb
route buses on B.C.Road & road leading to Bus stand (Buses waiting for
their turn) has been removed by diverting their routes through Bus Stand. Only
buses with their turn (almost 2/3) are allowed to park at their designated
stops/stands.
Further
more than 30 Buses which used to remain parked outside Model Academy road, have
been allotted to Kathua route buses near Jewel Chowk Jammu to let passengers
board for their onward journey.
Rahya, Serore, Rehal, Purmandal bound Mini buses & Buses have been
moved to parking slot near company Bagh outside MA Stadium clearing congestion
of Jewel Chowk to Dogra Chowk.
No unauthorized vehicle is being allowed to park on either side of road
leading to Canal Road. Frequent lifting of vehicles & use of Public Address
system has remained instrumental to make awareness among general public and
commuters.
Billawer route Bus Stop at KC crossing causing traffic hindrance at the
junction has also been cleared by lifting the Stand & allowing vehicles to
pick and drop only from Jewel Chowk.
Inter-State & State Road buses (four to six with ideal parking at
Narwal) are being allowed inside Bus Stand premises for facilitating outside
State passengers & locals wishing visit outside State. Remaining buses are
allowed to park outside Bus stand causing no inconvenience to any commuters.
In addition to the above, among most congested areas, Satwari has also
been taken into account and to decongest the area for free flow of traffic and
for better traffic Management.
Measures have yielded fruitful results by the continuous efforts carried
out by DTI Satwari and the other staff deployed at Satwari jurisdiction:
Mini Buses of Gangyal/Bari Brahamana /Bishnah etc. routes have been
diverted and shifted to lane exclusively meant for them so that conjunction at
main Chowk could be avoided.
Hawkers/Rehriwallas etc. have been shifted from main road with the help
JMC so that lane traffic and pedestrians could be made available. Yellow lining
cum- zebra crossing with the help of PWD is under progress which halted due to
black toping of the road for the time being.
Meanwhile, delineators’ installation has been done at the
cut out portion opposite GB Pant Hospital Road at Satwari so that bikers could
not cross from that portion to avoid the possibility of any accident.
