JAMMU, JUNE 16: A meeting of
Electoral Registration Officers and Nodal Officers SVEEP, Jammu was held today
under the Chairmanship of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kumar
Rajeev Ranjan, to finalize necessary preparations for one month special voter
enrollment drive starting countrywide from July 1.
The drive is being launched as per the instructions of the Election
Commission of India to enrol left out eligible electors with special focus on
registration of first time voters in the age group of 18-21 years.
The District Election Officer discussed in detailed SVEEP Plan and
emphasized upon the Electoral Registration Officers and Nodal Officers SVEEP to
identify the left out voters in the particular age group and take meeting with
BLOs and constitute Booth Level Awareness Groups involving Asha workers,
Anganwari workers, Helpers, MPWs, VLWs and other field functionaries. He asked
for holding awareness camps in Education Institutions, Colleges and
Schools to achieve 100% results.
The DC also called for availing the services of Numberdars, Chowkidars
for this purpose. He asked the EROs and Nodal Officers to furnish the calendar
of activities to be conducted under Systemic Voters Education Programme (SVEEP) to their
respective AC before June 20, 2017.
Similarly the Chairman also stressed upon the participants to delete dead voters by getting death record from
the municipalities and police stations and ensure error free updating to
prepare error free rolls by adopting due procedure.
