SHOPIAN, JUNE 14: The Deputy
Commissioner Shopian today interacted with members of Civil Society and Traders
to discuss various developmental issues in the district.
The members vehemently proposed for the time bound installation of
street lights in the town and the widening, mcadamization and black topping of
several important roads and link roads, including that of Shopian-Bijbehara and
Shopian-Habdipora road.
The members also pressed for the up-gradation of Sub-District Hospital
to District Hospital so that the hospital gets staff as
per the sanction strength of a district hospital.

They also sought for the immediate completion of Dubjian Water Source
Extension Scheme so that potable water is made available to public.
Moreover the issue of timely completion of Shopian fruit mandi was also
taken up. The problems of street vendors were also discussed in detail. All the
members in the meeting unanimously proposed for the identification of a
suitable market place, which can provide for sustainable solution to the
problem.
While addressing various stake holders,
the DDC assured that efforts will be made at all fronts to deal all the issues
that have been raised.
Identifying the district with its immense potential in horticulture
sector, the DC called upon the youth to register their contribution in the
sector.
