Jt CEO briefs about arrangements for month-long exercise
SRINAGAR, JUNE 30: Chief Election Commissioner of
India (CEC), Dr Nasim Zaidi today took appraisal of the arrangements made by the J&K Election Department for launch
of Special Drive in the State to enroll eligible left-out electors,
with special focus on first time electors becoming eligible by attaining the
age of 18-21 years.
Interacting
with the election authorities of various States through Video Conferencing, the
CEC urged upon the concerned to take appropriate steps to cover all
identified eligible electors, especially those becoming eligible for the first
time. He said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has been constantly
endeavoring to ensure registration of eligible electors through regular Special
Drives twice in a year to enroll all eligible electors. He called upon the
Joint CEO, J&K for organizing special drive and sensitizing the people on
the importance of the votes and asking the people to get them registered for
the same.
While briefing the CEC about the preparations made for the month-long
special drive in Jammu and Kashmir commencing from July 1,
2017, the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Dr. Raman Kesar said that
all concerned officers have been sensitized for taking up this vital exercise
seriously to achieve its objective. He said that publicity campaign has been
started through print and electronic media to ensure its reach to maximum
eligible electors.
It was
further informed that adequate quantity of requisite Forms have been
dispatched/distributed to the BLOs and other concerned officials to meet the
requirements. He said that the Political Parties have also appointed their
Booth Level Agents to assist the BLOs.
