SAMBA, JUNE 08: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today kick started blacktopping work on 7 km Abtal to Baba Chamliyal road ahead of the annual mela held every year at the historical shrine situated on India and Pakistan International Border in Samba district.
The work involving a cost of Rs 2.80 crore has been taken up to
provide smooth access to the devotees during the annual mela scheduled on June 22, 2017.
The Minister also inaugurated tile laying work in the premises
of Baba Chamliyal shrine which would be completed at a cost of Rs 2 lakh.
District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Xens of
R&B, PDD, BDO Ramgarh, AEE PHE, besides other concerned officers were also
present on the occasion.
The Minister, while speaking on the occasion, said that
development of rural and far-off pockets is the top priority of the government.
He asked the executing agencies to redouble the efforts to complete the work by
15th June
for the convenience of the devotees who come in large numbers to pay obeisance during the mela at the border shrine.
The Minister said that government was keen to promote border
tourism and Baba Chamliyal shrine provides a great potential to attract pilgrim tourists to the
area. “In the run up government is creating
adequate infrastructure including better road connectivity to attract the
tourists” he said.
Later, the Minister visited Nandpur and inspected pace of work
on Playfield at Government Higher Secondary School, Nandpur being developed by
92 Infantry Brigade under Sadhbhavana programme.
Ganga said that government has initiated various measures to
upgrade existing sports infrastructure in the state to provide best platform to
the budding sportspersons. He appealed to the youth to participate in sports
activities to channelize their energy in right directions.
