SRINAGAR, JUNE 6: Prof. M.Y. Ganai, Department
of History, University of Kashmir (KU), called on Governor N.N. Vohra,
Chancellor of the University, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Prof. Ganai briefed the Governor about several matters relating to
the advancement of teaching and research. He also apprised the Governor about
the funding requirements for the envisaged Heritage Museum, the concept of
which has been evolved by the Department of History, which will house the
artefacts and depict the history of Jammu & Kashmir from ancient to modern
times.
Governor assured Prof. Ganai of his support for all good projects
and re-iterated the responsibility of the faculties to ensure that their pupils
are kept away from all unwholesome influences. He observed that the
Universities must remain secular institutions devoted only to the pursuit of
learning.
