SRINAGAR, JUNE 1: On the directions of the
Minister for Horticulture Syed Basharat Bukhari, the government today deputed
two Horticulture Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) for identifying and
suggesting the remedial measures for the disease and insects responsible for
destroying the fruit plants in the Kargil district.
It is pertinent to mention that severe attack of locusts (migratory
grasshoppers) has caused extensive damage to the crops in various parts of
Kargil district including Zanaskar valley.
Both the subject matter specialists have been asked to report
immediately to Kargil and complete the task within the shortest possible time.
