Speaker stresses on upgradation of Satwari Nallah

Discusses issue with IAF authorities

JAMMU, JUNE 30- Speaker Legislative Assembly J&K Kavinder Gupta today stressed the need for upgradation of Satwari Nallah flowing alongside Air Force Station Jammu to avoid its chocking in the rainy season.

In this regard, the Speaker held a meeting with Indian Air force Authorities and sought their cooperation and technical help to modernize the deep drain which often gets choked and overflowing water causes damage to shops and residential houses in the area.

Air Force authorities assured full cooperation in solving the problem. Meanwhile Speaker also met with the local shopkeepers and residents who suffered damage due to overflowing of nallah after yesterday’s heavy rainfall. 

Earlier, he inspected the deep drain with a team of Irrigation and Flood Control department. The Speaker directed the concerned officers to take measures to avoid such problem in future.

Kavinder Gupta further stressed on regular cleaning of deep drain which flows through Gandhi Nagar and adjoining areas carrying waste material which leads to its chocking near Satwari.  He said regular cleaning and desilting would help to avoid such problem during raining season.
